Have been enjoying this one for years, in fact it was one of my first Belgian beers over 20 years ago. Finally got around to reviewing it.

Poured into a New Belgium globe.

Pours a hazy gold with a huge, three fingered, frothy head. The stark white is very slow to drop, not sure if it ever will. Head is mainly made up of tiny bubbles when viewed through the side of the glass, on top, it looks like a very rocky meringue. Big, chunky lacing.

Aromas of lemons, lemon zest, peppery yeast. Earthy, with a touch of barnyard funk.

Flavors of peppery, signature yeast, tobacco, lemons and zest. Barnyard funk. Now I can name the difference between great American versions of saison and this classic, it's that touch of tobacco in the flavor profile. Good bite from the carbonation. Finish is short, with the lemony funk leaving its mark in the fade.

Mouthfeel is dry, not quite bone dry, with a spot on level of carbonation.

Overall, this is the saison that all others are measured. Enough said.

Appearance is a golden cloudy yellow with a darker yellow core. Head is white and rocky that reveals a nice lacing as it disipates. Smells nutty, yeasty with citrus undertones. Tastes dry, sour and nutty with a nice honey filled grassy earthy character. Mouthfeel is bubbly and light with a champagne quality. This is my favorite saison yet! Very tastey I will certainly drink this again....as soon as i can afford another bottle. o.O

Hazy pale orange with a nice rocky off-white head, very nice carbonation, and sheets of lace. Fruity, yeasty aroma with a trace of alcohol on the nose. Fruity citrusy flavor and lightly bitter with herbal notes and a light tartness. Light-medium bodied and airy but soft with a dry finish and warming alcohol effects. Does not taste as strong in the alcohol department as Hennepin hence my higher rating...

The classic Saison !!!

Label states: "Vieille Provision" & "Belgian Farmhouse Ale" & "Unfiltered" & "Bottle Conditioned"

Perfection in a glass. A "saisonnaire" must-have; Delicious, crisp, refreshing. Everything you love from a saison - clove, honey, orange, spice, and banana. Lightwieght and fluffy bubbles. TASTY.
