Light to medium hazy gold color with beautiful white cap and lacing.

The aroma first hit me with the tart sharpness of wild cherries followed by ripe yellow fruit.

Taste on entry is far, far less tart and sharp as the scent indicated. Actually it's a very rounded and sophisticated presentation redolent of of ripe fruit that strikes me as more pear than banana but going in that general direction. Hoppiness is restrained and the fruit is backed by some spicy stuff such as clove. There's no hint of alcohol that I can detect.by

Medium texture with higher than average carbonation.

This beer manages to be simple and complex, very low key without upfront kick you in the teeth flavors, rather a more subtle approach that both impresses and pleases.

Bottle L419A, 11 2017. DFH Tulip.

A: bright, brassy, slightly hazy gold with three fingers of frothy, foamy head and roiling carbonation that bubbled over when I opened it. Head lasted well, leaving a thick island of foam in the middle of the glass, but I was surprised there was no lacing to speak of.

S: grainy, wheaty, slightly phenolic nose. Smells super light and refreshing, like a sunny summer afternoon (it was rainy today...). With time, as it warmed up, more spicy phenols presented on the nose, but I never got the expected fruitiness. After it warmed I got a bit of fresh lemon custard, perhaps.

T: arrives dry and crisp, with that same wheaty character carrying over on the palate. Spicy phenols present in the middle with a touch of alcohol, and then it ends in a crisp and dry finish. A little fruit presents toward the end and carries on to the finish; perhaps nectarine or white peach? Getting the last bit with the sediment transforms this into a monstrously bitter and phenolic show. Better without, imho.

M: lighter side of mid weight with very high carbonation making it feel lighter. Slightly slick on the finish.

O: All told, a much milder beer than I was expecting. Except for after I disturbed the sediment, this was much milder than any of the American Saisons I’ve tried. I only see the 750’s and draft around here; I might be inclined to buy it more if I could get smaller bottles. Dangerously drinkable at 6.5%, but I think I prefer Hennepin and Apex Predator.

Look: Light orange, tending to cloudy. Big foamy head which disappeared rather quickly.
Smell: some acidity, a bit of horse/Wet dog. I'm not a huge expert of the style but I like it.
Taste: entrance is surprisingly weak. Begins bready and fruity (banana perhaps), leaving a citrus aftertaste. Some funk as well. Still it's a bit lacking, given the smell which promised more funk within.
Feel: light and dry, as expected and appreciated. High carbonation
Overall: refreshing, complex enough, overall very enjoyable.

Champagne golden straw appearance with aroma and flavors of funk, sweet, dry lemon, hops, fruit, and grass with a dry crisp finish. Aged 18 months and was very refreshing.
