300ml bottle poured in a dimpled mug.

Hazy, murky dirty water - yellow in appearance. Big 2 inch merangue like head on the pour. Recedes to 1/2 inch with lots of sticky lacing.

Almost smells like champagne. Sharp spiciness with some cloves with that ever present Belgian yeast character.

Sharp flavour. Slightly sour with some funk. I really don't know how to describe this. Unique.

Tight bubbles, aggressively carbonated. Medium bodied with a slight sharpness to it.

A very interesting beer, and the first true example of the style I've had. Can't say it's my favourite, but an interesting experience.

12.7oz bottle poured into tulip glass.

A - Pale light gold in color, clear, with extremely high carbonation. Huge frothy head with good retention.

S - Clean crisp floral hops with some peppery spice notes. A hint of light malt, yeast, and grass.

T - Floral and grassy hops with some citrus, pepper, and Belgian yeast flavor. Rather complex. Not much malt present. Has a clean hoppy finish with a lingering grassy aftertaste.

M - Light body with high carbonation. Very prickly on the tongue. Dry finish.

O - The best Saison I've had. Everything about this beer was enjoyable. It's highly drinkable, refreshing, and tasty. I look forward to pairing this with some salmon.

12.7oz bottle, Boulevard tulip, 2010 on the cork.

Hugely foamy, with a meringue head that took up most of the glass. The beer is hazed nearly to opacity and the color is rich yellow, like sunshine. It is yellow, not orange tinted.

Soft chalky, fruity yeast. The overall impression is light grassiness and pilsener malt; a very fresh, pure beer smell.

Very subtle flavors of the same light chalky, fruity yeast. Pilsener and Belgian light malts with a dry finish. Grassy, slightly fragrant hops and pear or apple.

The mouthfeel is saved from wateriness by spritzing carbonation. The thinness isn't justified by dryness.

I can see how it's currently the seventh ranked Saison on Beeradvocate. It's subtle, crisp, and would be even more of a joy on a hot day.

11.2 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

A-Glowing golden brew, hazy. Topped with a healthy bright off-white head, cloudy and huge off the pour and rocky as it slowly receded with thick lacing.

S-Spicy coriander and clove, semi-sweet matliness with a huge fruity presence.

T-Bready, biscuity maltiness forms a base for slight spicy characters, black peppery and with an herbal bitterness. Earthy, in a way minerally. This mixes with some subtle fruity characters. Finishes fruity and spicy, pretty dry.

M-High carabonation makes this brew surprisingly refreshing, with a moderate, springy body.

D-Tasty and, as I sai, surprisingly refreshing.

Nose breathing sparkling citrus and hoppy beer side, slightly resinous. The mouth is slightly citric with a hint of acidity, but very easy to drink. It perceives a pure hops season which gives a bitter taste and pungent taste and a final subtle grapefruit being a bit like lemonade. The attack is frank yet refreshing with a fruity controlled bitterness and a very convincing finish long and dry. It remains a standard season but extremely well controlled and mostly so easy to drink.

Had this many times, time to finally review. 750mL bottle into a Tripel Karmelit glass.

Golden straw, clear and bright. Towering rocky white head leaves good lace trails. Busy looking bead.

Apricot danish, golden delicious apples, rockmelon, kumquat, banana confectionery, touch of bitter rind and that distinctive floral spiciness from the Dupont yeast. Sublime. I could smell it for hours.

Very similar flavours, with perhaps a slightly increased citric sourness.

Syrupy and slightly sticky, with medium carbonation and a touch of astringency and (surprisingly) booze heat on the back palate.

Beer just doesn't get any better than this at 6.5% in my view. A veritable cacophany of aromas and flavours that work in unison brilliantly.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle with one of my favorite labels, it pours hazy gold with a touch of peach. A big, billowy white head develops immediately and diminishes but never goes away completely. The smell is classic musty barnyard with some herbs and peppery spices. Spice and herbs abound in the taste, but a bit of dry fruity sweetness becomes more apparent after it sits a while. This Saison goes down like a dream and is always worth seeking out.

Appearance: Straight pour into a pint glass. A word of warning: don't do that with this beer. I got a glass full of dense, eggshell-colored head that dissipated very slowly. The liquid form that eventually emerged was a cloudy, pale straw. A moderate amount of carbonation bubbles from the bottom.

Smell: Heavenly, like summertime. Belgian yeast, apple, banana, lemon, and floral hops. It also exhibits a musky, farmhouse aroma, as well as some pepper spice.

Taste: Starts with pepper spice, which then moves aside to reveal the backbone of fruit: apple, banana, and lemon. The mouthfeel is bready, which makes me think witbier. The backend of each sip has a nice floral hop bitterness that lingers, and the farmhouse muskiness is also evident.

Drinkability: This is the second saison I have tried, and it has without a doubt redeemed the style for me. Personally, though, I would much prefer hefe or wit. The muskiness turns me off a little.

750 ml bottle shared with my son, the evening of the first day of his new job. Congratulations, son.

Poured into tulips, clear light golden body under a huge white rocky head, with ample lacing. Head lasts well. Very pretty beer.

Smell is funky to the max, brett, bread dough, horse blanket, nice cracker malt. Mmmm, smells good and is quite intense -- smellable from across the room

Taste is very similar to the smell, only not quite so intense.

Mouthfeel is much richer than I had anticipated: nice and round.

Drinkability is good.
