From the bottle, it pours a hazy golden color with a nice head. The head lasts for a good long while. Nose is yeasty and slightly fruity. Taste is on the dry side (which I desire tonight) and is even slightly bitter, although definitely thirst quenching. Yum!

Pours misty gold with a large, frothy, surprisingly stable head and thick lacing. Aroma: yeasty, grainy, fruity (esther), spicy. Flavour: banana, honey, passionfruit, clove spice, grassy, some alcohol warmth, the length and complexity are astonishing and each mouthful seems to release new flavours. Because this beer is so dry it is not overly full in the mouth despite this complexity.

LATEST REVIEW:

From a 330ml bottle served almost straight from the fridge at 11 degrees Celsius into a white wine glass (trying something new). Best before date: March 2020.

Look: The beer pours a clear gold with 3cm of dense, white head that fades into a thick cap within 2+ minutes. Decent lacing and good overall retention. Effervescent.

Smell: Moderate strength and well-balanced – all the ingredients manage to make an appearance without taking away from each other. Prominent esters and phenols. The esters have a tropical (banana) and stonefruit (ripe apple) character while the phenols are sweet (vanilla) and peppery. The hops have a spicy and floral nobleness to them along with grainy, soft pale malts playing a supportive role. Soft acidity. The amount of layers in the nose is mind-boggling; sometimes it's hard to figure out where one ingredient starts and another begins.

Taste: Follows the aroma seamlessly. Strong and well-balanced with a bit of tartness. The notes are the same as the aroma – I have very little to add in terms of flavour. The finish is rather lengthy (even though very dry) with moderate intensity and balance leaning towards bitter.

Feel: Medium body with high carbonation. Creamy yet prickly with tons of life and presence on the palate. Dry with a pleasant touch of alcohol warmth.

Overall: Wonderful world-class beer featuring excellent craftsmanship and drinkability as well as exquisite balance and complexity. A must-try. I'll absolutely drink this again.

From a 330ml bottle served straight from the fridge at 10 degrees Celsius into an oversized wine glass. Best before date: 03/2020.

Look: The beer pours a slightly veiled gold with 7cm of dense, white head that settles into a solid cap in 4+ minutes. Decent lacing and good overall retention.

Smell: Moderate strength and sharp. Fruity (citrus, banana) and spicy (clove-like) yeast funk with grainy, wheaty malts.

Taste: Moderate strength, well-balanced, and tart. Fruity and spicy with soft, grainy malts. The finish is medium in length and intensity, leaning towards bitter, and dry.

Feel: Medium body with high carbonation. Crisp, prickly, and drying with faint alcohol warming.

Overall: Outstanding. Refreshing with nuanced Belgian yeast character. High drinkability for those warm summer days. Classic, must-try example of the style.

A nice saison, although I find it a bit too carbonated and even bitter.
I would not hesitate to have this again, as it's clearly better than most beers on the market, but I beg to differ that this is anywhere near the best in this style.

It has been in the house for at least a year, but if that is a bad thing, the beer didn't get the memo. Beautiful pour, moderately cloudy, huge dense white head that persisted through consumption after falling to a thin layer of bubbles.

Smells of pears, yeast, earthiness, herbs and spicy phenolics. Very herbal, hidden sweetness.

The taste is an amazing, controlled, mixture. Opens big with the phenolics and yeasty character. Sweetness shows underneath, brightened by a brief flash of sour. The grain base dries things out a bit, then some peppery spice notes come in at the end. There is a fantastic earthiness that connects all the elements together, and the spicy notes of clove linger pleasantly after the sip.

The feel is of a medium bodied beer and extremely smooth for the style.

Overall, this is a must try beer for anyone who is a fan of the farmhouse or wild ale category. Excellent example of the potential of this style, recommended.
