This was the last of DuPont's widely distributed ales in the U.S. that I had not Had.
And it was a serendipitous confluence of events that made me give Foret such a high rating.
It was a beautiful, sunny spring day. I was eating Bob's World Famous Soup (albeit self-proclaimed.)
And this was the first time I can remember having this saison.
It was love all over again... only better with age.

P.S. If you want a more balanced review, see Beerchitect.

pours a cloudy orange straw with a huge head that poofs. lots of tiny, dark sediment. nose; fruit preserves, sweet dinner roll, & very light citrus hops. taste; yeast, applesauce, sweet pear, sugar cane, mild hops, caramel, banana, & apricot. a dry... almost cinnamon spice on the semi-sweet finish. a sort of lightly boozy apple pie aftertaste. medium carbonation & mouthfeel. sweet and not very complex, but goes down like a fruit dessert at 7.5% abv. a sweeter saison dupont; absolutely delicious!

Did a corked 2013 tonight, 12/23/15 and still came out very tasty.

Fluffy white head with a golden/orange to the body. Aroma is light with the carb but still very pleasant and fruity. Taste is more of a Belgian Pale/Saison hybrid but very tasty, probably a result of aging. Finishes a bubbly and fruity feel down to the gut that lingers nicely of a typical Saison. Overall, for it's age that I thought might be a problem, very good and drinkable. Look forward to it again down the road.

From the corked, caged 750 ml green bottle. 2014 batch. Sampled on November 28, 2015.

The pour is yellow to orange with a big foamy head. Some unfiltered cloudiness.

The aroma brings out bread or dough sensations with an orange or light citrus hop character and Belgian yeast.

Light body.

The breadiness is also noted in the flavor with a slight citrus bitterness at the finish. A little tart.

Hazy golden color with off-white head. Aroma has some nice citrusy esters with some spicy notes. Taste is slightly sweet and fruity at first and gets more bitter and spicy towards the finish. Body is quite smooth for a belgian beer but also well carbonated. Really good saison overall.

White pepper, spices, flowers, chamomile, apples in the aroma. Some bubblegum too. Strong yeast character with spicy herbal hops. Honey, graham cracker, and orange zest. Slight rustic earthiness.

Pours slightly hazy with a big persistent white head. Great retention and lacing. High carbonation.

Apple skins, spices, and cinnamon graham cracker. A hint of clove. Dry and effervescent. Orange peel. Some interesting holiday spice flavor. Warming and spicy alcohols.

High carbonation and medium light body. Very clean and dry finish with just a hint of lingering spices.

Quite complex and seems a bit more fruit and spice forward than typical Saison Dupont.
