Pours an attractive opaque orange-amber color with a rather fleeting wispy head. Both the smell and taste are very citrus with some pine. Very little malt flavor noted. The carbonation level is excellent and the mouthfeel extremely smooth. Overall a very fine IPA that I would drink again if offered.

12 oz can. Pours clear straw gold with a small white head that quickly goes to a thin collar.

The aroma is sweet candy fruit with some bread and a little hop in the background.

The flavor is sweet candy fruits with some straw malts and some bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, an odd IPA. Lots of sweet fruit with some bitterness but not much hop profile which is surprising considering the hops used.

12 oz can. Must be real fresh: (1) I bought it literally as it was hitting the shelf in the beer store and (2) this is the first review. ABV = 6.5%.

Typical appearance for a filtered IPA: clear amber body with an average head.
Brewed with 5 hop varieties, this IPA does have a nice complex and mix of hop aromas and flavors. While there's some tropical fruit in both, the aroma has plenty of floral notes whereas pine appears in the taste. Moderate bitterness. Medium body with light+ carbonation.

Canned, best by date of 09/2016

Appearance - Pours crystal clear and pure golden in color with a white, finger width head. Fair retention produces a thin, broken layer of suds with a thin ring around the edge. Lacing consists of spots and a few broken lines.

Smell - Juicy aroma, with notes of orange, grapefruit, mild pineapple and a touch of stone fruit. Also faint, underlying spice and sweet bready character.

Taste - Candied orange and light grapefruit. Faint pineapple zing. Underlying generic 'white bread' malt backbone. Finishes more sweet than bitter, with the candied orange still holding strong and just a touch of pine and pith in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with low, somewhat lifeless carbonation. Smooth, in the least.

Overall - Pretty good flavor profile, but falls flat in texture. A shame. I wouldn't have any qualms about drinking this again, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it, nor would I kick myself for passing it up.

The Far Away is a solid IPA. It poured an orangish copper with white head that is leaving a lace. The scent has faint bitter citrus. The taste is bitter through the drink and finishes fairly clean. There is a touch of sweetness battling the grapefruit like base. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its not too bad.

A thanks goes out to the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus hops, hints of melon. Taste is piney, some citrus, faint melon, malts are missing for the most part. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but not a good example of the style.

Average IPA appearance, amber colored with a moderate white head.
Sweet bready smell. Fruit, floral, pine. Taste has more sweet malts, bread, caramel, light bitterness at the end. Definitely a malt focused IPA. Oddly creamy mouthfeel. This is not an IPA that would appease the hopheads, and not something I'd grab when craving an IPA, but it has some nice flavors.

I am plowing through some of my backlog of CANs, especially in the furtherance of The CANQuest (tm). These series of FCB CANs were procured at The Friendly Greek Bottle Shop.

From the CAN: The approved pic does not really do it justice with the glare, but the CAN depicts a Cubist-style elephant, reminiscent of Lucy the Elephant in Margate City, NJ. "With a tropical fruit nose and juicy, piney body, the hops speak for themselves. Brewed with Cascade, Columbus, and Chinook then dry-hopped with Centennial and El Dorado. After a long day, let this IPA take you far away."; "Family owned & operated since 2003"; "Pairs well with: Carne Asada, Carrot Cake".

I have a replacement pic in abeyance now, so I feel no CANpunction about CANducting a Crack! & inverted Glug. I got some mild foaming coming through the vent, so I quickly got things underway. This resulted in two-plus fingers of dense, French Vanilla-colored head that slowly sank when faced with tonight's heat & humidity. Color was an oh-so-slightly hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) and it may be attributable to a chill haze. I will monitor to see if it clears up as I drink it. Nose had a caramel-mintiness, reminiscent of the Brach's caramels that I enjoyed as a child when visiting my maternal grandmother's house. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was evergreen and caramel with a light bit of grapefruit citrusiness lurking in the background. I read some previous reviews that said that this beer lacked Ooomph! for the style, but I have to say, I found it pleasant not to have to fight a palate-wrecker. Warming, I got notes of tangerine to acCANpony the grapefruit, plus it began to clarify. I am kind of enamored of this beer, simply as a throwback to about a decade-or-so ago as AIPAs began to dominate. Not every one was a hop bomb and this hearkens back to those salad days of yore. Finish was dry, as I would hope, but it was not gaspingly so, causing me to reach for my asthma inhaler, like some in recent memory. I could drink a sixer of these, easy. The lacing that it left behind was beautifully sticky.
