A: Deep copper with about an inch of creamy looking off white head. Mostly clear with a fair amount of carbonation bubbles present. Leaves sheets of lacing with every drink.

S: Very floral and pine-y in the nose with an underlying spiciness.

T&M: Medium bodied with soft carbonation and a ton of hop character. Hop flavors run the spectrum from grassy to pine-y to citrus-y. While there is a decent malt backbone, this one is decidedly unbalanced. Nice bitter hop finish.

D: While I really like this brew, I can see where it wouldn't be for everyone. The brewery claims this has a whopping 80 IBU's, and I can believe it. For a hophead like me that is just fine, but if you are into more balance you might want to look elsewhere. I jokingly called this beer the "hop juice".

Poured into a pint glass a clear copper/amber with a thinner but well retained soapy-like white head that left shotty lace as it settled pretty quickly.A mix of caramel and citrus-pine,and floral hop aromas neither really win out but it is quite appetizing.A little thinner and sharp in the mouth, first off it seemed a little soapy flavors seemed a bit off than they came around a little this is pretty bitter with sharp grapefruit hop flavors over top of a toasted lightly sweet malt base.A sharp tasting IPA not a quaffer I think the sharp bitterness may keep you from drinking alot of this,Iam a hophead but this is even a bit to sharp for me in saying that it has some good qualities to it,whoa big hop burp.

Has a nice reddish-amber color.

The nose is slightly vegetal with spicy, floral hops. I have to say, it doesn't smell very good.

It tastes better than it smells but it is too sweet to drink much of, diacetyl perhaps. Has a nice floral hop character without much bitterness, which isn't really a plus for this one.

Tastes o.k. just don't smell it.

Rocky Mountain IPA from Fort Collins Brewery.
Colorado. 6.2% alcohol.

A- Pours a crisp amber-orange fluid with fluffy offwhite head that leaves decent froth on the top. Hold some random lacing on the rims of the glass.

S- Musky floral hops, burnt caramel malts, earthy pine and mild alcohol fumes.

T-M- Wow... there is alot going on here. First it taste like the beer is unsure if it wants to be hoppy or malty dominate. Upfront is a large danky hop funk with heavy notes of caramel and even chocolate like flavors of malts. Lightly citrusy hop flavor more or less earthy or dirtlike hop charactor. Mouthfeel is less than appealling with a medium malt thickness that holds its feel for a few seconds leaving an almost forced bitterness that follows.

D- Unbalanced and not even enough drinkablity to have in a bar if found. Might try tap... will not have bottle.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours clear from the bottle, a nice coppery color with about 3/4" head of tight white bubbles. Great lacing.

S: Floral hops fight with an earthy malt aroma. Sort of an odd smell, but not necessarily bad.

T&M: The hops present in this are quite bitter and hang out on the tongue for a while. The malts are the co-star of this show, and they also unique in that they have a very earthy grain flavor, almost like peat or heavy grass. Carbonation is fine and abundant. The finish is relatively dry and malty to start with but ends with that earthy hoppy bitter linger.

D: For an IPA, this was less flavorful than many and that strong earthy grain presence was honestly just a little distracting. It certainly wasn't bad by any stretch but it wasn't really great either. The body was solid and the flavors that are there stay strong and stay together throughout the experience. Not bad.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine Volume II, Issue IV:

Massive head from a steady pour, the lacing is pretty amazing as it leaves a coating down the glass. Bright and clear amber color. Bittersweet aroma of caramel and toasted malt with a thick blanketing of wildflowers and blonde tobacco from the hops. Medium-bodied with a sufficient crispness. Sizable hop flavor with thick herbal, minty, orange rind and black tea flavors. Bitterness is strong but more of an astringent pucker than a sharp bite. Maltiness is present with a good amount of breadiness and caramel malt middle to end, though the hops do stay way on top. Quick fume of clean alcohol in the semi-dry bitter finish.

Any true hophead will be able to take this American IPA on, a sure pick and a great example of what US mountain region breweries do for their IPAs.

This beer was a dark amber color with a thick off-white head. There was abundant lacing. It had a floral aroma, with a bit of bready malt. Mostly pine in the taste, but balanced by the malt. This beer was milder in taste than I got from the aroma, but still was a pretty decent beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a reddish amber with an off-white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is some sweet malts and grassy (slightly piney) hops and a touch of fruit.

The flavor is sweet caramel malts and melon followed by a good sized bitter grass and tar hop finish, that lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium and slightly watery.

Overall, it has good bitterness, but I don't care for the flavors (grass and tar). I liked their other 2 IPA attempts better. It is nice to see the local breweries using more hops though. I greatly prefer Odell's IPA to this.

12 ouncer, pours darker honey amber, clear, typical medium tan, loose head, with some spotty lacing. The sniff reveals lots of pine and resiny hops and some bready malts. This is a better then decent ale, caramel, toasty malts, coexisting with grainy, pine sap hop notes. Respectable if not transcendant. Decent everyday type pale ale

Pours a half finger of white foamy head. Good lacing, some head retention, nice clear reddish orange body.

Smells quite floral, fruity, earthy and very yeasty.

Tastes very earthy, somewhat floral and herbal. A firm piney, earthy and resinous hop bitterness. An interesting tangy yeasty note sweeps in mid palate.

Medium thin bodied, medium carbonation. Dry finish, resinous and coating.

Overall this is a solid IPA. Good appearance, nice smell and firm dry bitter finish.

Thanks to buckeyenation for this brew. Foamy pour. Amber in color and rather clear. Smell is mostly floral hops. Tastes again is mostly floral which I am not a fan of. Mouthfeel is Ok but the drinkability is affected for me since I am not a floral fan.

12oz brown bottle served into a nonic glass.

Cloudy, glowing medium amber with a generous off-white tannish head. Very good retention slowly falling into a chunky/pillowy layer leaving thick rings of lace around the glass.Well carbinated with strinking from the sides and constiant streams of bubbles from the center of the glass.

Strong, tempting hop aromas very floral with citrus and a good earthyness. Would guess lots of cascade hops. Turns grassy as the beer warms with subtle honeyied carmell malts.

Strong hop taste, very tangy citrusy turning gtapefruity. Not much malt presence in the taste. Hopsided is a good call. Good hop taste although finishes with tongue swelling grapefruittyness.

Light body, some grainyness, suprizingly smooth. Easy drinking, would have liked more malt presence. Good ipa for the hopheads.

Slightly hazed honey amber with a low frothy head of off-white foam.

Aroma of bready malt and cinnamon, some citrus and honey notes.

Well-balanced flavor of malt and hops, fairly similar to the nose. Bready malt, citrus hops and grapefruit rind bitterness. Notes of ripe apple and honey, finishes with some peppery and clovey spiciness, mildly yeasty, punctuated with some pine.

Full mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Tasty and drinkable beer. Thanks to BuckeyeNation for throwing this one eastward.

Another beer from my old homestate; poured into my trusty becker pint glass. Slightly hazy golden amber with a medium tight fluffy white head that sticks around without dissipating at all, leaving tons of delicate lacing. Smell is lots of herbal hops, with some citrusy flavors hidden within. Good crackery malt presence as well. Taste is very nice; big biscuity malt supporting minty herbal hops, with some bitterness that follows well into the rather dry finish. A delicious take on the American IPA; personally I prefer more citrusy beers, but this one is great too.
