Older bottle from the cellar.
Solid black with a thin tightly bubbled tan head that shows moderate retention. Roasty and rich chocolate aroma and flavor.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with small dark brown highlights and nice medium brown head. Creamy, low carbonation, and good lacing. Taste is chocolate, some coffee. Very good beer.

AROMA: Toasted Malt, chocolate. LOOK: Creamy Tan head over a dark black pour. TASTE: Dark Chocolate…raisin. Slight sour late. FEEL: A tad thin for a stout. Growler pour from Joe Canals…..they were out of Founders Breakfast Stout AGAIN. Beer has quite a kick. Maybe should be called "Imperial Double Chocolate Stout.

Pours a dark chocolate color. Has a sweet aroma with notes of chocolate. Flavor is some chocolate with a bit of a heavy sweet syrup taste. Leaves a little bit of a light aftertaste. Overall not bad but definitely needs more refinement.

Black and opaque, cola-like around the very edges. Seems thick, with fine, filmy, desert mud colored head, not very thick, but retaining well. Smells a little earthy and roasty, coffee more than cocoa, but more grainy than anything. With faint but fake banana-like alcohols/esters, even fainter toffee notes, and substantial boozy and metallic suggestions. Taste is a kick in the teeth. A strange, perhaps overwrought medley of flavor, like a very dark Belgian with too much roastiness and hops but not enough vinegar or alcohol. Sweetish throughout, almost nondescript but similar to the fake banana as described in aroma. A little chocolate and toffee, but decent grain, smoke, and coffee flavors splashing up as it ebbs and flows around the palate. Harsher booze may seem slightly hidden by these sweet and robust qualities, and the carbonation, but it soon comes into its own in the occasional heat or pepper breath while drinking and a mild, lingering warmth after each swallow, building up in mouth as the beer level goes down in glass. Earthy, roasty, and herbal aftertaste. Body is medium or thereabouts, syrupy with suds that aren't too aggressive, only slightly tingly at first before mellowing to almost cream. And as mentioned, at least some warming effects from alcohol. Honestly, it could stand to be more astringent than it is. Not a top shelf Imperial Stout (although I'll likely end up overrating it compared to most), but quite good nonetheless.

Pours pitch black very thin tan head that leaves quickly. You can smell the coffee and some chocolate aroma slight oak smell. Taste is a little odd something there I cant put my finger on on the back end, taste of coffee and chocolate little smoke maybe what ever the back end taste is not very good. The after taste causes the feel to be off as well almost taste like its over carbonated maybe? Overall not a beer I liked much or would have again.
