Pours out to a nice thick head that falls down to a permanent layer. Bits of foam are left down side of glass. Color is a nice reddish amber. Aroma is malty, caramel, and hints of nuts and toffee. Flavor is malt-forward but strongly balanced by a hop backbone of earthy Willamette hops (basically American Fuggles) Mouthfeel is a bit crusty and astringent. A good quaff.

Served in a 3 Stars glass.

A: Poured a dark, ruby red color with a sticky mildly off-white head stuck to the glass.

S: Understated, but red velvet cake batter in spades. The malt was presence, but I could have used more hop presence.

T: Ugh... tasted almost exactly like cherry cough syrup. Malt and with a floral component, but who cares.

M: The mouth was serviceable here. It wasn't too sweet and it was bubbly enough for jazz. Once again though, if the flavor isn't there, it's kind of a moot point.

O: Not a repeat for me.
