Clear dark brown with a modest less than one finger of tan short lived head. Little or no lace.
Smell is chocolate and coffee.
Taste is chocolate coffee porter with some light pilzner aspects.
Mouthfeel is a bit thin but well carbonated. Finish is mildly dry and slightly bitter.
Overall it is pleasing to drink and the jug is cool. I waited a long time to try this but ran out of choices at the convenience store.

Mississippi Brewing Mississippi Mud Black & Tan, 5% ABV, 65 IBU. First thing to know is that this beer has never been to Mississippi as it is brewed in New York! It is in a huge bomber+ 32oz bottle. This beer is pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Has no bitterness, no alcohol taste, but not much other taste either. It seemed pretty heavily carbonated. I don't believe the 65 IBU rating - there is no bitterness at all. The bottle really is the coolest part of this beer. I'd get it again, particularly at the low price per oz.

Great bottle and decently priced $3.39 in CA. It was a lot better than I expected especially for a premix. Smooth and goes down easy. Was feeling good after the first bottle. Definitely worth checking out.

Very light for a black and tan. Strong bold flavors and dry feel.

32 oz. quart bottle,

A: Pours a dark brown, though lighter than I expected into a mug, with a full white head, no real lacing though.

S: Light smell of roasted malt and coffee, some hops.

T: Mostly roasted malts and some milk chocolate. The porter seems to be the major flavour imparter in this beer, as the lager doesn't seem to do anything, but lighten the flavour. Tasty, but I would have liked more porter character, maybe change the blending ratios.

M: Very light, almost like a macro lager in feel, watery, fizzy.

D: An interesting beer, one of the first beers I remember ever having, would be a good introduction into crafts, without hitting someone over the head with flavour, great bottle as well.

Poured into an English pint glass at about 40 degrees.

Appearance: a rich dark copper hue with a one finger head. The head is foamy and bubbly. There is a lot of carbonation in the glass. The clarity of the beer is clear. The head dissipated to a quarter inch ring.

Nose: There is a funky aroma I cant distinguish I think it is wort. You can smell roasted malt, hops, corn, caramel, and what seems like leathery earth.

Taste: A roast malt, citrus, caramel, and sweet corn.

Overall. The mouth feel is carbonated. and the finish is nil. The beer is watery got funky flavors going on in the beer. I don't even think this is a black and tan, or a poor excuse. I think I will pawn this off to one of my buddies.

A: First off it comes in a cool jug like quart bottle but ounce its poured it a nice foamy head which leaves a good laceing. The color is a nice dark amber brown.
S: Sweet roasted caramel malts right up front with some coffeness to it very little hops not much going on here.
T:About the same as it smells with a slight bitter after taste but not a bad after taste over all rather good
M:Smooth good heaveyness to it not to light good carbonation.
D:I Find this beer very drinkable and would buy agian 3 quarts went down rather fast with out feeeing full I may not go out and buy another case this weeek or even this mounth but still will revisit this one agian in the future.

Pours a very nice copper/brown color. It is fairly clear with little to no carbonation. However, there is a nice tan head with great retention.
Smell has a good mix of two beers. There is a strong smell of caramel and toffee malts, with a bit of a smokiness. It blends with a good hop smell from the pilsner half of this beer as well.
The taste does not match up with the great smell at all. It has a bit of the smokey toffee with a slight bit of hops, but falls slightly flat.
Mouthfeel is nice with a good smoothness, but I tend to expect a much thicker smoother feel from a black and tan.
Drinkability is good. The mouthfeel is nice, but the taste kind of sits in your mouth in a bad way. This beer is worth a shot, but it isn't the end of the world if you never have it.
