Pour: Clear reddish-brown color. A finger and a half of tan head that dissolved very quickly and left no lacing on the glass.
Smell: Smells like your typical American lager with a bit of roasted malt thrown in.
Taste: Grainy and sweet front end with an underlying hint of sour apple. A little coffee and roasted malt in the back. It's not bad, just rather bland.
Mouthfeel: Thin and watery with too much carbonation. Pretty much your standard American lager in that respect.
Drinkability/Overall: It's ok. Nothing special but not offensive. Easy to drink but lacks character and depth.
Final Notes: I can pour myself a much better black and tan than this. It's an interesting concept (a premixed black and tan) but it fails to capture the true complexity and beauty of a layered beer.

Mississippi Brewing Mississippi Mud Black & Tan, 5% ABV, 65 IBU. First thing to know is that this beer has never been to Mississippi as it is brewed in New York! It is in a huge bomber+ 32oz bottle. This beer is pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Has no bitterness, no alcohol taste, but not much other taste either. It seemed pretty heavily carbonated. I don't believe the 65 IBU rating - there is no bitterness at all. The bottle really is the coolest part of this beer. I'd get it again, particularly at the low price per oz.

Very light for a black and tan. Strong bold flavors and dry feel.

Great bottle and decently priced $3.39 in CA. It was a lot better than I expected especially for a premix. Smooth and goes down easy. Was feeling good after the first bottle. Definitely worth checking out.

My wife picked me up the big jusg of this brew cuzz she liked the jug-like bottle a few weeks agoe and I never reviewed it because it was quite forgettable.Pour is decent a reddish brown color with not much head to it,aroma is very grainy and malty but not much there.I also got a metallic taste but not much just a slight metallic tinge in the finish, some slight caramel malt taste but pretty bland.A beer in a gimmick bottle quite a concept, that how you can sell really bad beer.

Appearance Clear, medium brown body looks like a mix of dark and light colored ales. The head was very nice. Full, tan, and lots of lacing.
Smell Theres the standard American grain aroma complimented with roasted malts. The malts though are kind of faint. I also couldnt find any sweetness in there.
Taste Well, I think I like the black better than the tan. The dark flavors aren't bad. The burnt malt, which tastes like a light dark ale, has a chocolaty sweetness to it. The premium beer flavor though is typical macro piss.
Mouthfeel Lightly carbonated and kind of creamy and actually quite smooth. Not bad.
Drinkability This tastes like a good American attempt at a dark lager.
Comments This came in a moonshine-type of jug that youd find down South in a backyard still. Its quite a sight. If you collect bottles you HAVE to go out and buy one of these.

I bought this in a pre-packaged growler at the state liquor store. Intrigued by the packaging, even more intrigued by the dirty cheap $2.99 price tag. Lets just say you get what you pay for. Might as well pour the beer down the drain and keep the cool bottle.
Appearance - It actually looks like a very good beer, caramel colored, good head, impressive lacing on the pint glass as well.
Smell - Doesn't smell like much, slight hint of chocolatey, roasted porter.
Taste - Going down it is fine, the pilsner is a bit chalky and bitter.
Mouthfeel - on the lighter side, not particularly heavy.
Drinkability - It just tastes too bad to keep drinking more than the quart bottle it comes in.
Overall, pre-mixed black and tans have never been a huge hit in my world but why not? Probably stick to Yeungling B&T if thats what you're into.

Presentation: It was poured from a 1quart jug/bottle into a pint glass. The label is made to look like a stone jug and it has a nice description of the beer. There are some possible batch codes or freshness dates but they are unreadable. No abv.
Appearance: It had a deep crimson red color with good clarity when held up to light. On top is a tall and slow fading head. This head is light tan in color and hangs on well making some lacing on the glass as I drink.
Smell: There is a light toasted malt with some caramel sweetness backed up with some herbal leafy hop notes. I also get a slight papery or a cardboard like oxidized presence in the nose.
Taste: The flavor is a little light or thin but not overly so. I do pick up some toasted malt character with some light caramel like sweetness. Hops come on lightly and offer very little balance. There is only a slight herbal note towards the finish which is still mildly sweet with a slightly dull papery note. This rides in on a smooth and thinly textured body.
Notes: I am not really impressed with this Black and Tan and after drinking half of the quart I cap it back up to save for cooking. Its not a bad beer but its just not one that I wanted to keep on drinking when I have so many better beers on hand.

"Black and Tan: premixed for you"
Head: 2 inch, medium light color.
Color: dark amber, but you can still shine a light through it.
Smell: Imagine Coors Dark.
Tate like: 1 part Fosters Oil Can, 1 part Killian's IR, 1 part Becks Dark.
The bottle states that it is a mix of English Porter and Continental Pilsner mixed together and sold in a Hill-William bottle.
Very Good carbonation during the swallow.
Clean crisp fresh taste.
Not very heavy.
Good head with light tan color.
Bottle material: 100% brown glass bottle with a shrink wrapped label around it to give the appearance of a ceramic XXXX moonshine bottle.

Pours brown-amber with white head. Aroma is mainly malt with some slight roasted character. Pretty ordinary. Flavor is more of the same, tastes sort of like a macro lager mixed with a porter. Not terrible, but not something I would drink again. Medium carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. The mouthfeel is the only above average part of the beer.
(Sampled several months ago and reviewed from notes. I thought I had already reviewed this but then noticed I had either never entered the review or it was lost somehow.)
