This is a pretty cheap beer, you almost never see 32oz beers at $3. Certainly an easy drink to get drunk. I'm not really seeing the Pilsner/porter combo because this look is closer to a carbonated watered down soup than a beer. Literally no carbonation other than a brief hiss when you open the bottle, it tastes like a watered down porter akin to someone's first attempt at homebrew where they didn't have enough flavorful grain. There are clear notes of metal in the beer indicating that it's been exposed to too much oxygen during the fermentation process. It smells yummy, but I think that's about all it has going for it. It's definitely more drinkable than most domestic American beers, but that's not saying too much. The good thing is getting drunk on it is easy because there's no weight to it. If you're looking for a bud light fix or you have a friend that just doesn't like craft beer but loves American Guinness, this is it's perfect mate.

Muddy ruddy rootie tooty booty. Brown colored, tan head, dissipates super quick. Aroma was a little bit of brown malt, nothing much going on.

Taste is a mildly sweet, thin bodied mouthfeel lacking in terms of hops, malt and yeast contributions. Can't figure out how this is a black and tan, the black feels missing, seems like an american brown ale more than anything else.

Excellent price ($5 quart). Great bottle. Good porter mixed with a decent pilsner. Okay tobacco tasting beer with a somewhat crappy watery mouthfeel. Good enough to get again. I bought it because of the bottle (so did you). They must sell a ton for the same reason.

Sometimes, being a ticker ain't that much fun. This is one of those times. While there was nothing abhorrently wrong with this beer, it wasn't very good, and was not at all enjoyable. Try it for a cheap thrill. Or don't. you won't be missing anything.

16 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 1/22/2015. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light coffee, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light coffee, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light coffee/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a nice black and tan style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Great beer for cheap. $4 at my local liquor store. Not the best beer I've had, but defiantly worth the price.
