2016 750ml bottle shared with two friends just before closing this am.
Looked like a glass of rose' wine with a minimal head that receded into wispy ring, no visible lacing. Aroma was floral, almost "perfumey", just a hint of hops. Flavor was almost medicinal. On the upside, I thought the texture was nice. My two cohorts both thought it was a very good beer, I had a hard time chokin this one down. DFH makes some outstanding DIPA's, this isn't one of them.

I tried this beer at a local small craft beer and wine seller that is now out of business. The owner was really cool and since I was usually his last late night costumer due to my work hours, he would let me try the beer before buying it. I didn't know beer could taste like this. At the time I was big into whatever high "ABV" IPA, Stout, Rye Ale was coming out that I hadn't tried. The balance and the flavor in this thing was mind blowing. The Honey is lingering in the taste which I like a lot being a fan of mead. It's weird because it's not the biggest complex flavors but whatever witch craft went into to the brewing process makes you want more after ever sip. I've been waiting for dogfish head to release this sexy thing back into rotation but it looks like I have to wait another year :(::::

From the Grateful Dead bottle dating from 2015, it pours a hazy amber with a nice head. Scent is somewhat muted, but there is still a hint of hops there). The mouth gets a bit of sweet along with the hoppiness, without any bitterness. A sipper and one to share!

I aged this for three years, and found that it had a completely different profile. The look had medium color to it compared to its dark color in 2014. The aroma has a somewhat root beer hint to it. The body was medium, and the taste had the same granola flavor, but a little smokier. For a 9% this beer has aged well, and produced more of the pale ale tannins then what was intended for it. If you still have a bottle, I would wait for another two years to see how it goes, but at age 3 it is a delicious sipping beer and reminds me of straub lager.

This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a nice looking fairly dark hazy brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated nicely. The smell started off with a big honey sweetness. Light sweet lemon plays a nice balance and lends a slight hand to the bitterness department. The taste was mainly sweet with a moderately bitter underneath grassy to lemon rind-like balance. There was a dry sweet to semi-bitter lemon-like aftertaste running into a quick dry sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Overall, as an American Strong Ale, it works, I’d have again.

The only thing I didn't like about this brew was the price, too high.

medium amber hue with a thick tan head that remains. full haze with visible yeasty sediment. aromas are wet cardboard and stale honey sweetness. a bit medicinal. full thick body with oily texture with astringency bordering on harsh. taste is all malt and (granola?) nutty toffee-like sweetness. unfortunately the hop presence and bitterness is no longer there to balance it. some alcohol heat that lasts, along with the unbalanced sweetness into the aftertaste. - disappointed but maybe I hung on to it too long. from 2013.

Picked this one up from the local liquor spot. $14.99 price tag. The label alone, is Fucking killer!

A- Pours an orange and slight amber, with a generous 2 finger white frothy head. Lacing is nice throughout.

S- smells very sweet, and malty. You get honey and almonds up front, maybe the slightest scent of granola. I also get a grape like scent. Smells very light and fluffy.

T-Very surprising, to say the least. Honey and almonds are present up front. You'll taste the granola if you really look for it. IBU's have to be pretty low on this one, as it isn't very bitter at all. Well balanced, and sweet, like a dessert beer.

M-Medium body with decent carbonation. Very light and sweet.

O-If this beer came in 4 packs, like others from DFH, I would buy it for a relaxing night with the family after dinner. Very balanced and quite sweet. Good solid beer. Glad I picked it up.

Brewed with almonds, honey and granola.
A slightly hazy solid gold color and a hefty high foam cap.
Major complexity in the aroma, you can smell a robust, lush hop combo and all of the adjuncts. All equals big hearty and hot smell.
The flavor is very complex, dry, hearty, earthy and fruity hops are in a wonderful groove with the honey sweet malt and hefty-smooth granola.
Feel is the Jerry G of the show, full bodied, crisp and super smooth finish thanks to the long granola effect. Stunning complexity thanks to the depth of flavor. This one is much like a long, deep, Darkstar from 1972.

I've had this one set aside for awhile and finally decided to tap into it. Poured into pint glass; nice orange color with modest carbonation leading to a one finger head. Modest sweet notes and malts to the nose. Medium body with subtle sweet taste and slight bitterness at backside; not what I expected for a DIPA/Imperial Pale Ale. Interesting yet it's another Dogfish head brew! Enjoy!!
