An honest to goodness IPA brewed with a bounty of real citrus including lemon flesh, blood orange juice plus orange and lemon peel. A combination of Warrior, Centennial, and a rare experimental hop to perfectly complement the citrus ingredients and flavor. Flesh & Blood balances the resinous hoppy characteristics of an American IPA with the explosive, zesty fruitiness and subtle dry tartness of citrus to deliver a highly quaffable ale that’s incredibly unique and lovely to down the whole year round.

Poured from a 12 oz can:
Pours hazy amber with a very bright reddish copper tint. Head is off-white and a bit thin but has good retention around the circumference of the glass.
The nose is fruity and hoppy, but maybe some caramel too. Lots of blood orange and a bit of a zesty lemon and hip smell too.
Taste is more dry than expected, but not in a bad way. Caramel sweetness is mild but present. Finish is largely citrus, mainly lemon and blood orange, almost as if I had just eaten a blood orange by itself. Hops are there but they aren’t coming through as much as expected.
Feel - very tart and medium carbonation. Body is medium. I get a little bit of bitter citrusy residue on the tongue afterwards.
Overall - in terms of IPAs, good, but maybe not exceptional. Points for being unique for sure. To me it seems like something that’s part IPA, part Gose, part Sour Ale.

Lightly hazed, bright crimson coloring, prodigious, ivory head.
In the nose: Fruity, lightly hoppy, but slightly muted. Pleasant, if soft-spoken.
In the mouth: Boom! Here comes the bitterness, right with the fruit. Nice and tart. Getting the blood orange along with the bitter, and the refreshment is coming along nicely. Great balance of bitter and sweet. Very nice.

I'm writing from memory, but this was a miss for me. Had it last night at McNellie's in Tulsa. I saw the name and expected a blood orange IPA but that's not what I tasted. There was a funky taste that I can't describe. A bit of rootbeer? Tar? Bark? I don't know. I just scanned the reviews to see if someone else identified the taste that was off-putting to me. Sorry Dogfish, I know you're good!

Had at The Peerless Grille, Anniston, Alabama, on draft into pint tumbler.
Nice amber-gold, nice lacing, good balance between resin, fruit and caramel. Not as fruity as I would expect, Flesh & Blood drinks more like a traditional American IPA.

On-tap at Barcade, Brooklyn, NY
A: The beer is crystal clear coppery amber in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high dense off white head.
S: Slight aromas of lemon and orange zest are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but is a bit stronger with flavors of blood oranges and lemons. There is only a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink but seems more like a fruited beer and less like an IPA.
Serving type: on-tap
