An honest to goodness IPA brewed with a bounty of real citrus including lemon flesh, blood orange juice plus orange and lemon peel. A combination of Warrior, Centennial, and a rare experimental hop to perfectly complement the citrus ingredients and flavor. Flesh & Blood balances the resinous hoppy characteristics of an American IPA with the explosive, zesty fruitiness and subtle dry tartness of citrus to deliver a highly quaffable ale that’s incredibly unique and lovely to down the whole year round.

12 oz can. Pours orange with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head, nice lacing and soda-like carbonation. Aroma is of citrusy hops, bready malt and tropical fruit. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is of citrusy hops, caramel malt and oranges. Finish is long and dry. Too fruity for me.

My old high school buddy had a can of this for me to try whilst I was visiting over the Holidays. It poured a clear copper with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had hints of citrus peel. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bitter fruit presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a very drinkable beer.

Aroma is tangy sweet and malty. The taste is mix of tangy brown sugar notes with bitter pill hops. As the beer warms there is a noticeable juicyness that appears. Nothing offensive but just a bit odd. It clocks in at 7.5% ABV but is not "hot" or heavy like some high ABV beers can be. It does have a strong lingering sour aftertaste that I am assuming is the blood orange additive. There are several other breweries experimenting with the blood orange additions. I've had Elysian and Lagunitas blood orange brews so I have some base point to judge from. All in all this is an interesting beer that is worth a try if you like experimental IPAs. Cheers!

Wanted to try this for awhile, found it on draft at The Yard House in DFW. Golden copper color, little slightly off-white head. Citrus all over the place on the nose, and the lemon flesh and blood orange juice peek through.

They come through strong on the taste - the hop profile is present, but the lemon and blood orange jump on top and don't relent. Takes this a different direction than the "typical" IPA, which isn't a bad thing.

Yeah! An actual bloody ale! Pours amber Crimson, making me want to jam the King. Got a thcik foamy head a couple fingers fat dissipating into a thin mildly bubbly line within a minute or three.

Nose out the can is amazing.. easily wouldve been a 4.75 but the nose out the can lost it's uniqueness. I bet it's the shit when fresh.

Taste is light and AWESOME! That citra, that orange, that glassy clean finish! A little dry but tasty af. I wish I could visit this brewery one day.

I had been putting off getting this beer, because I didn’t want to risk it being full of artificial syrups and flavors that are quite gross in my opinion. I wasn’t disappointed though. This 7.5% ABV IPA sports a mild 45 IBUs.

Look-This IPA pours with a rich copper accompanied by vibrant orange hues shining through the orange-blossom honey color. It has decent clarity or crystal clear if it weren’t for the dense thicket of large carbonation bubbles. The head is coarse and white which fizzles down to a thin film.

Smell-It has a subtle smell with caramel malts and a tinge of hop-based tropical fruits and buttered bread from the malts.

Taste-It has a remarkable taste. It bursts with hoppy resins and terpenes up front and then gives way to blood orange, orange peel zest, tangerine, and general citrusy hops and bready caramel malts. It has a refined flavor profile and is well-balanced. The timed release of each attribute only act to prepare the palate for the next wave of flavors, all of which are the results of natural hydrocarbons produced by the hops. They use Warrior and Centennial hops as well as some unnamed experimental hop variety. The mouthfeel is cloying and rich, but balanced and wet. It leaves a delightful hop resin coating on the tongue and vague echoes of the balancing caramel malts.

Overall-This is an easy drinker so watch out and remember that it packs a respectable 7.5% ABV. The blood red tin promises an excitingly refreshing experience with a tinge of novelty which Dogfish Head was more than capable of providing. For optimum experience, serve chilled and pour into an American pilsner glass. The gentle graceful slopes of the side walls act to funnel the rich alpha acid hop components into your olfactory system, preparing you for a refreshing burst of flavor and delight!

Reddish orange with a foamy head. Aroma was light; lemon, orange and some bread malt. Flavor was citrus and herbal notes, pine and bread malt. Dry finish and quite smooth. A decent beer overall.

Can poured into an imperial nonic point glass (you use what glad your host has).

Let me start by stating I'm not a huge fan of IPAs that are hop bombed as a good portion of US IPAs tend to be. It was getting harder to find a balanced IPA but thank God the pendulum has been swinging back from that.

That said, I've appreciated that Dogfish Head has always kept balanced IPAs in their repertoire (along with a great number of fantastic beers). I've been wanting to try Flesh & Blood for a while but it seems that there has always been something I'm more interested in trying whenever the opportunity presented itself. This time I just went for it and I'm very glad I did.

It poured a hazy copper color very nicely into the glass with no sustained head but a slight foam around the edge left some lacing residue with every sip. The nose blended the piny scent of the hops with the citrus beautifully. Most important, the beer is incredibly balanced. Each sip had a nice, but not overwhelming, hoppy bite smoothed by the citrus blend. It's awesomely flavored!

I regret delaying trying this. It's a mistake I won't make again. A very refreshing IPA, which the style should be. Another home run from the crew at Dogfish Head!

Appearance: Amber orange glass holds a quarter finger cover that laces the glass with sticky trails.

Aroma: Hops are full volume but also gives a "red ipa" crystal malt base of sweetness that supports them.

Taste: Pithy citric notes, bitter grapefruit, an earthy note, citric rind in the finish goes lime, fruity notes of pear, most of this seems hop driven. Sweet base supports and almost brings this to balance which lets the fruity notes shine through.

Mouthfeel: Dry, puckering, prickly carbonation, medium heavy body.

Overall: A bold IPA. Lots of fruit notes which I think are going to depend a lot of freshness of the can, and personal tastes. I enjoyed it and could see grabbing another single.

12 oz can poured into an IPA glass. American IPA brewed with orange peel, lemon flesh, and blood orange juice. Hops include Centennial, Warrior, and an experimental variety. Summer selection, released along with SeaQuench Ale.

L - copper in color with a reddish tint, lime caramelized ruby. Bubble white head with thin white ring. no lacing.

S - pine from the Chinook is dominant aroma, citrus from the orange peel coming thru a touch, lemon is present as well. No blood orange, but it smells like an IPA

T - Crazy tasting beer. Fleshy fruit, clear as day blood orange, sharpness from the lemon flesh, pretty remarkable tasting IPA. No malt is the taste.

F - medium light in body, partly from the juice. Pine resin is lighter as well.

O - This is a fun and refreshing beer. Good for warm temperatures without sacrificing hops. Might not be for everyone but it is as advertised. Very fun and very good beer. Cheers!

This American IPA has become my go to beer, never fails to leave me satisfied. First time I tried it over a year ago at the Dogfish Head Alehouse in Gaithersburg Va, I was amazed with the amount of citrus flavors, the color was a beautiful copper and the aromas I capture while drinking from the pint glass was extraordinary. Very good tasting American IPA with enough bitterness to leave you satisfied.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear reddish gold with a medium creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet orange and grapefruit hops.

The flavor is lots of sweet citrus fruit with a medium balancing bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice fruity but mild IPA.
