Style: Fruit / Vegetable Beer

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 18.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
An ale brewed with a ridiculous amount of pureed raspberries (over a ton of 'em!). Fort has a Belgian-style base, then we follow a similar fermentation process to the one we use on our other super-high ABV beers, 120 Minute IPA and World Wide Stout.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy reddish brown with a thin off white head.

Smell: Strong fruit and alcohol smell.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of alcohol, wuthering a sweeter fruit taste and mild bitter hops.

Overall: Not what I expected, but it was a good beer, I would have it again.

Thick and sweet like syrup. I'm gonna sit on my other bottle because I have a feeling this beer isn't going to peak for another 4-5 years. Cannot wait to try it aged.

Fantastic beer. Sweet and tart, with sour-ish ale taste to it. Very good stuff. A lot of berry and fructose

On tap at brewery. Usually I expect this kind of wallop from an Imperial Stout or a barleywine. This one come from a jar of jelly, at least that's what it smells like. Silky pour, aroma of berries, taste comes on full fruit with associated alcohol burn. Really strong, but tasty. It will just take a while to get through....

L - copper amber. Clear, but a TON of floaties! Swirling it around the glass leaves legs!

S - it burns! Intense raspberry and alcohol.

T - raspberry Juicy Juice overwhelms. I can see the yeasty Belgian character. Has a slight rusty metallic twang. Tart cherries. Sickly sweet, kinda like Higher Math. The alcohol just annihilates my tongue and gums.

F - not as thick and syrupy as I'd expect. Higher carb (probably a result of the Belgian base). Doesn't exactly mix well.

O - not sure about this one. On one hand, I like a raspberry bomb, but on the other, I think the Belgian direction was the wrong way to go. Would've liked to see a raspberry stout or something like that.

Served On-Tap

A — Pours a slightly pinkish hue into the glass with great clarity and a slim off-white colored head on top that leaves behind some solid rings of lacing.

S — Smell is pungent raspberry and phenolic yeasty character. Very much booze forward and hot right out of the gates.

T — Taste starts well enough with notes of raspberry and Belgian yeast character. Gets quite phenolic and boozy quickly, finishes like cheap vodka.

M  — Warming, scorching, hot, lacks balance.

O — Just overdone, this would be good if it wasn't so overpowering alcoholic, this drinks like terrible cheap raspberry vodka.
