Notes / Commercial Description:
An ale brewed with a ridiculous amount of pureed raspberries (over a ton of 'em!). Fort has a Belgian-style base, then we follow a similar fermentation process to the one we use on our other super-high ABV beers, 120 Minute IPA and World Wide Stout.

Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. Bottleneck says Bottled On 10/23/15.

A- Pours a light orange/amber color with a 1/4 inch off-white head that doesn't retain long before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a small center patch of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves small clots behind.

S- Sweet port-like aroma with a cherry/raspberry aroma and a pronounced but not unpleasant booze fume.

T- Huge raspberry sweetness that doesn't taste artificial. Also notes of honey, cranberry and cherry. The alcohol is hidden exceptionally well for a beer with such massive gravity. Closest thing I can liken this to is a fortified wine/beer

M- Slick and slightly syrupy with medium-low carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- Haven't had this in years and it's pretty much just as good as I remember it being. I remember the raspberry being just a bit more assertive and the color being more reddish and opaque but, other than that, they've gotten really close with this batch. Hope they can keep it up in years to come.

12 oz. bottle, bottled 10/23/2015. Finally getting around to reviewing this one from Dogfish Head, always excited to try something new from them. No abv listed on the bottle anywhere.

Poured into a Big Eddy snifter glass.

A - Pours a deep golden orange body with hues of red / pink. Less than a finger of wispy white head. Thickish in appearance, with slow-rising carb. Sediment visible.

S - Aroma of juicy / tart raspberry puree, and lots of hot boozy alcohol fumes. Still on the fresh side, the beer smells "young" in terms of booze heat.

T - Taste follows the nose: tart / juicy authentic raspberries, and lots of warming alcohol. Big boozy alcohol bite. Sweet, tart, and fruity, but the alcohol content is strong and noticeable, somewhat overpowering.

M - Feel is syrupy, semi-thickish. Very hot with the booze heat. Low carb, not terribly easy to put down stuff. Definitely a sipper.

Overall, a hot boozy monster of an ale. I liken it to a more alcoholic version of Founders Blushing Monk. I would be very interested to see what some serious age could do to one of these bottles.

Bottled 10/23/15 poured into a tulip.
Looks like a muddled reddish brown, small 1 finger head.
Smell is jammy raspberries and nail polish remover.
Taste is mostly raspberry, more nail polish remover, rotten fruit. My wife said it tastes like a bad wine. I get that aspect. Some heat is present too.
Medium mouthfeel, some bubbles help carry the taste from start to finish.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy reddish brown with a thin off white head.

Smell: Strong fruit and alcohol smell.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of alcohol, wuthering a sweeter fruit taste and mild bitter hops.

Overall: Not what I expected, but it was a good beer, I would have it again.

Thick and sweet like syrup. I'm gonna sit on my other bottle because I have a feeling this beer isn't going to peak for another 4-5 years. Cannot wait to try it aged.

Fantastic beer. Sweet and tart, with sour-ish ale taste to it. Very good stuff. A lot of berry and fructose
