Pours a bright yellow with minimal head. Almost looks like a lager. Big tropical notes to the nose. Mild bitterness masked with more citrus and light pine. Light feel to the mouth with strong carbonation.

= A different IPA for sure. Has the look and feel of a lager but the taste and smell of a solid IPA. Overall a unique beer.

Very aromatic with a lot of ripe pineapple and a hint of sticky pine. All of that carries over into taste. Big vibrant flavors but as the label says, very subdued and mild bitterness. It is a bit light for me, but the flavors really shine through and I always applaud a different take or method to the brewing process.

Received in trade with Marty.
“Bottled on 10/13/17” in yellow ink on neck. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 42 degrees in a hand-washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.5.
Body – Light golden yellow, clear. Sediment.
Head – Large (Maximum five cm, controlled center pour), white, average density, average retention, diminishing to an irregular seven to ten mm ring and a rocky complete layer.
Lacing – None.
First pour – Light golden yellow, clear.
Aroma – 4 – Tropical fruit.
Flavor – 4 – Malt backbone is apparent as are the balanced tropical hop flavors. Very little bitterness. The end is slightly chalky and has a long hang time. No alcohol, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, soft carbonation.
Impression and summation – 4 – No lacing from an IPA that is low alcohol (6.8% ABV) and not barrel-aged? Something’s wrong here. The palate is that of an average IPA. I’ll check the label again and make sure it’s really from Dogfish Head. Yep, it is. Seems entirely too gentle. Taste and the nose are both well above average, with the malt appearing and being well-balanced with the hops – no stars here, just solid teamwork.

L: hazy gold pour produces a 1/2" lacy white cap with fair retention

S: smells like a green grocer with tropical fruit aromas in the lead with herbal fruit and vegetable aromas in the background with traces of bread crumb

T: big fruit palate features tropical fruit, melon, pineapple, passion fruit, hints of caramel and faint bread dough balanced by a mild to moderate soft bitterness with a light citrus pith character

F: clean, medium body, medium carbonation and a moderate creaminess

O: a very nice IPA that makes a good companion to food

this is a great ipa from one of the original breweries to turn me on to the style way back when. i like all the weird stuff they make, but it was definitely time for one like this, overdue even, and i was stoked to see it. no hops during the boil at all? i think thats crazy and awesome, not that ipa isnt trending that way already with all these grossly over dry hopped beers trading high, but this is the first confirmed case of zero boil hops that i am aware of, pretty cool! the beer is almost perfectly clear, super light golden in the glass but with a big frothy and lasting white head on it, almost looks like a belgian. the aroma and flavor are both great here, fresh zesty orangey hops, almost like the lupulin powder or the hop dust some of the breweries have been using, it has that concentrated freshness to it, but it also has a lot of nuance, including pineapple and lemongrass making it feel tropical, white wine and kiwi fruit, as well as a wonderful minerality, clean and tidy and dry in the finish, but without any appreciable yeast character. crisp to drink on, and i really do pound this, maximally refreshing for the style, but also hearty and satisfying to me, a session beer only because i like it so much, not because its stupidly light. a couple of things about this one that i really like, first, its assertively hoppy without being bitter, i think this could turn a lot of people on to the style, the no boil hop plan accomplished its mission. secondly, this is mostly or entirely dry hopped, yet its amazingly well refined, not sloppy, milky, hazy for the sake of it, its east coast style ipa in spirit, but its a further evolution of it really, all the dry hopped goodness of whats on trend, but a cleaner, objectively better beer than most of them. this is great stuff and it makes me happy!

Pours a hazy golden color. 5/4 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of piney hops, citrus hops, alcohol, slights sweet malt, slight yeast, and a hint of fruit. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of piney hops, citrus hops, alcohol, slights sweet malt, slight yeast, hint of rye, hint of black pepper, and a hint of floral hops. Overall, good appearance, aroma, body, blend, and feel.

I'm not big into IPAs, but damn, this is definitely a good one...

The look and smell of this bad boy was the best of any IPA I have ever had - slightly hazy, yellow-orange coloration with a good view of the carbonation and an even better view of thick foam with stark lacing and staying power down the pint glass. The smell was a mouth-watering scent of sweet oranges blended almost perfectly with the bitter aroma of hops that was evenly distributed as I expect when I put my nose up to a beer. Now, when it comes to the mouthfeel, I found it very light, definitely carbonated, but still with a silky texture that made it sessionable from that aspect alone. I was slightly disappointed to find the smell did not exactly translate to the taste - the IPA was more hop-forward to me, not really letting those sweet citrus juices come to the forefront. Nonetheless, this is still an outstanding beer, one that DFH should be proud.
