Bottle into a snifter appears black with a khaki head that fades leaving spotty lace.
The aroma is spicy with raw woody notes, licorice and insense/cedar.
It tastes fruity like raisony with with a mild tang about it, chocolate, raw oak and solvent alcohol.
This is medium in body with modest carbonation. Its ok, dont need to have it again.

Full-on ebony, dark and dense, slim brown head.
In the nose: toasty, roasty, rich, coconut, slightly sweet, some chocolate, hickory. Nice. Very nice.
In the mouth: Great balance. Just enough bitter, just enough sweet. richness upon richness. Altogether tasty. Very mellow, very fine. I think I need to change my aural environment....
ah, yes. Much better with Miles in the background. Or fore, whichever. And very cool to see Mati Klarwein's art on the label again.
This is so nice. So good. So groovy.

2018 bottling poured into a snifter; very dark brown pour yields a fairly jet-black and viscous body with an impressively dark-mocha head; letting this brew warm up is key...rich malts emerge; roast; honey & molasses; espresso; chicory/cinnamon/spice; oak; not quite heavy in the body but still thick. A unique RIS, pretty well executed and not disjointed.

Appearance:
Deep ebony with a dark cappuccino froth. Very handsome. Sadly, the retention is short and there's no lacing to remember it by.
Bouquet:
Pungent raisin musk on a slab of thick oak, followed by a miniature boat parade of cherry and chicory on a slow river of black molasses.
Feel:
A medium body characterized by slender, silky elegance and a mild booze warmth. Carbonation is modest and provides piquant texture contrast.
Taste:
Dried figs dripping with molasses are dunked in dark chocolate. Then comes a delicate layer wood-smoked honey drizzled over dark grains and given a finishing polish of cherry dryness.
Special Note: You need to let this one air, otherwise it comes across like a plain, somewhat sour stout. To embolden complexity, cellar age or refrigerate for 1 - 2 years.

12 oz bottle...dating info got smudge off but this is about 2 years in the bottle.
Pours the expected very dark amber, dark khaki cap...dark and stout like.
On the sniff I get vanilla, roasted dark malts, dark chocolate.
Thick, smooth and viscous, this is quite tasty, with more of the nose following through onto the palate....vanilla, marshmallows, dark grains, some smoky wood and dark chocolate....complex and quite worthy....go get some....

Single 12 oz bottle from New York trip May 2019.
Pours solid black with 1/2 finger brown head with reddish highlight.
Aroma starts slightly vinous but then a sweet brown sugar, molasses note with a hint of cherry, chicory in back.
Tastes of molasses, dark fruit, chocolate, raisin, hint of cherry.
Slick medium full mouthfeel with vigorous creamy carbonation - deliciously smooth with touch of roastiness balancing honey sweetness.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours pitch black with a small light brown head. Smells of sweet raisins with slight chocolate. Tastes of coffee, raisins, berries, and slight bourbon. Beer is full bodied and a supper, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Pours a black color with a foamy tan head that lasts quite a while. Aroma is chocolate and caramel malts. Tastes of sweet chocolate. A bit thinner than some imperial stouts. No bitterness. Good mouth feel.

Ours dark black. Aroma is quite sweet of oak, molasses, vanilla and coffee. Taste is incredible mix of wood, sweetness, smoky and a bit boozy. Medium/full body.
