Aprihop is an American IPA brewed with Pilsner and Crystal malts. It's massively hopped -- in the continuous fashion, of course! -- and the flavor is complemented by the addition of apricots.
After fermentation, the beer is dry hopped with irresponsible amounts of Amarillo hops. The beer has a hoppy aroma, with the apricots playing a supporting role.
The flavor is rich with late hop flavors, and its bitterness is tempered by just the right amount of malt sweetness and fruity undertones from the apricots.
50 IBU

12 oz bottle, bottled on 2/18/08
The 2008 Aprihop pours a transparent orange color with a quickly dissipating white head. Soda-like bubbles gather on the bottom of my Sam Adams perfect pint glass. The nose is that of tart apricot, subtle but balanced malts and hops, and some belgian-like funky banana type notes. Taste is excellent, the tartness of the apricots and the bitterness of the hops collide on a subtle but sturdy malt base creating an interesting 'splashing' effect throughout the sip. The finish drops off rather quick but the tarty tingle remains on the tip of my tongue as well as the sides. Great tannins! The carbonation is a bit much but it really works with the overall tastes and makes this beer incredibly refreshing and dangerously drinkable...7% really? i would have guessed 6, nice balance!
I think this beer STILL needs a few more weeks to fully reach its 'ripeness' in the bottle, for everyone who disliked the 2008 Aprihop i ask that you revisit this one.

The hops drown out any apricot flavor
This stuff is horrible.

One of my favorite beers ever, the dark, almost caramel flavor of the apricot is a much better compliment to the IPA style that you might think. A perfectly balanced beer and a great pickup if you can find it.
