This Ancient Ale is a modern take on a 9th-century Finnish beer.
The wort for Sah'tea is caramelized over white-hot river rocks, and the beer is fermented with a German weizen yeast. In addition to juniper berries foraged from the Finnish countryside, Sah'tea is flavored with black tea, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and black pepper.
The spicing is subtle and balanced, and Sah'tea is a highly-quaffable, truly unique brew with a full mouthfeel.
6 IBU

750ml crown capped bottle into 25oz snifter.
Opaque orange hue with a one finger off-white head that slowly settles to absolutely nothing. Looks like cheap orange drink.
Very light aroma, very sweet and piney, with a bit of juniper coming through.
Very sweet again, with a little bit of spice. Citrus and honey is in the background. Full bodied, higher carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden.
An okay beer, seems to remind me of a very sweet American Pale Wheat Ale. I'd still like to try a Sahti which is closer to the older style.
