This Ancient Ale is a modern take on a 9th-century Finnish beer.
The wort for Sah'tea is caramelized over white-hot river rocks, and the beer is fermented with a German weizen yeast. In addition to juniper berries foraged from the Finnish countryside, Sah'tea is flavored with black tea, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and black pepper.
The spicing is subtle and balanced, and Sah'tea is a highly-quaffable, truly unique brew with a full mouthfeel.
6 IBU

A very interesting brew to say the least.... The more and more I drank it, it reminded me of Namaste. The finish was very familiar.
Appearance - such an orange color. reminds me of the orange flavored lollipops you would get at the bank when you went with your parent.s Actually had one this morning. Poured very vigorously and only got about s finger and a half of a frothy head. Looked very carbonated.
Smell - I definitely get the black chai with some sour berry in there as well. a very sweet smelling brew.
Taste - I initially get a sweetness in the beginning coming form the juniper berries, but also a pinyness to it. Next is a spinciness that tingles the tongue. The sweetness reminds me a lot of banana like flavors. Black chai finishes off the brew quite nicely.
Mouthfeel - Initally there is a very highly carbonated light to medium bodied feeling. As it warms the brew gets a bit heavier and then finishes off with a creamy/oily, and a semi-drying finish.
Overall - Not what I expected. Reminds me somewhat of Namaste. Definitely is different too. I wouldn't buy it again, but I also didn't hate it. It looked and smelled great, but the taste didn't live up to what I sensed. I really have mixed feelings about this one.
