Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with light retention and minor lacing notes. Aroma of black chocolate notes with some floral coffee notes. Taste is also a complex mix of black chocolate notes with some dry floral coffee notes and faint residual sugar notes. Body is pretty full with medium carbonation with some warming alcohol notes. Well balanced extreme beer with nice floral coffee notes.

12 FL OZ bottle
Served in a snifter

This beer pours black with a fleeting mocha head that leaves no trace.

Coffee and anise are the main attractions. Dark chocolate rounds it out.

Coffee first. I get anise, dark chocolate,

Thin bodied, especially for this big of a stout. Once again, thin mouthfeel for this high of abv.

Classic coffee stout flavors Definitely old school.

Picked up a four-pack at the Milton main brewing facility 7-27-23 for $36. Looks like it was bottled on 9-11-22; consumed bottle #2 for review 8-1-23.

Beer poured black with a nice tan head.

Nose is awesome sweet malts yield a chocolate forward slant and the coffee addition blends it fresh ground beans to the mix.

Taste follows the nose as the huge malt base that gives notes of chocolate. Coffee addition is strong but not overwhelming and with the hopping gives a nice roasty hoppy bitter edge to this.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.

Overall i like this edition of WWS much better than the original. Coffee addition gives the overall flavor profile an RIS feel.
This reminds me of Trader Joes espresso beans candy, very coffee forward with a touch of chocolate.

A: Opaque black, moderate size. light tan head with decent retention and some lacing. 4.5

S: Aroma is coffee, maple syrup, some dark fruits. Pretty sweet on the nose with some balancing booziness to keep it from being cloying. 4

T: Taste is big coffee with big roasted malts. Some herbaceous earthy notes, surprising amount of dark fruits, maple syrup is mild to moderate but acceptable and pleasant. Pretty well balanced, a decent amount going on. Very well done. 4.5

M/D: Mouthfeel is fuller side of medium bodied, ABV is present but in a nice balancing way, drinkability is surprisingly very good. 4.5

O: A very nice beer, I’m not hugely into adjunct stouts anymore but this one is nice without being too over the top. Probably prefer regular WWS but this one was quite enjoyable. 4.25

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint dark chestnut brown + dark cola brown + amber + garnet red colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy foamy tan head that quickly reduces to a medium to large sized patch of thin film covering a little more than 30% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of espresso over the top of moderate aromas of roasted + slightly charred + toasted + dark + chocolate malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness and some light aromas of smoked malts. Moderate aromas of dark chocolate + cocoa. Hints of earthy hops.

T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted + slightly charred + toasted + dark + chocolate malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness and some light flavors of smoked malts. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of dark chocolate + cocoa and moderate to strong flavors of espresso. Finally there are light flavors of earthy hops. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of roasty bitterness.

M: Full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Thick + creamy with a moderate amount of alcohol warming in the finish.

O: Drinks fairly easily considering the strength of the beer and a very pleasant albeit slow sipping full thick creamy mouthfeel. Lots of complexity of malt flavors + aromas along with the espresso and minimal sweetness. Lovely and roasty.

unique as can be! when i saw the name i figured add coffee to original world wide, but nope, not these guys, they go a step further with the addition of maple syrup and oat milk, a super neat mix of ingredients in a beer that exceeded even high expectations for me. the coffee is really dark, roasty, and bitter, its not acidic at all but its pungent enough to be intense the whole way, its the first thing i smell and the last thing i taste, and even if the quality is high, its almost over roasted to me, too bold to be that nuanced, and it doesnt come across as particularly fresh or interesting, even though its good its really the least exciting part of this for me. the maple provides needed balance on the sweet side, i think its cool they let the maple do this instead of a bunch of long boiled caramelized grain richness, this is oddly one note on the malt side, which leave a lot of black blank canvass for the maple, and also the oat milk, which i adore in this, subtle, mostly on the finish in taste and largely textural, but amazing nevertheless, it softens the coffee, extends the roast, adds creaminess, maybe a faint vanilla note, and some protein the flesh this one, maybe also hide the alcohol, this didnt drink hot to me. a little black permanent marker thing as it warms, slightly stressed yeast, no surprise at this strength, and more coffee. bitter, charcoal, ashy at the end. impressive specimen, the extra ingredients do a lot in this, and as much as i was sort of reluctant to see a variant on such a classic beer, i was totally stoked on the drinking experience, a top recent dogfish head beer for my money!

I’ve had three versions of World Wide Stout, and the lowest rated one I’ve had was 4.79 (the Oak-Aged Vanilla), so expectations are high for this one. Dark, slightly brown, fizzy head. Strong scents of coffee and roasted malt blend well together. Taste is strong coffee and dark malt, more bitter than sweet, a bit of a metallic note. Medium to bigger bodied, for a high abv the alcohol asserts itself with a warming affect after drinking, very crisp and clean. The lowest so far of the World Wide family I’ve had, but still awesome. Will have to buy more.

Pours a thick inky black beer with brown fizzy smaller head that fades semi quickly, stains the glass with good legs

Nose very dark malts, roasted malts but not acrid, some dark chocolate cocoa, burnt caramel and marshmallow with a hint of smoke, some roasted coffee and espresso, fudgey

Taste brings more heavy roasted malt, inky thick stout, roasted coffee and a bit of espresso but not a ton, bitter roast, burnt marshmallow and caramel with some nougat, hint of smoke again, very light acrid notes on the back end, dark chocolate, cocoa, baking spices, spicy hops add to the bitter roast for a med-high bitterness, smooth alcohol, some raisiny dark fruits, finishes sticky sweet, coats the mouth, with med-high spicy hop and roasted malt bitterness

Mouth is very thick chewy lush, lower carb, low warming alcohol mostly smooth

Overall about what I expected, super intense base beer, smooth alcohol, mild burnt caramel/marshmallow notes, although coffee was a bit less than I expected as I think it's overpowered a bit by the overall beer
