Brewed by:
Dogfish Head Craft Brewery
Delaware, United States

Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.17%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Some say the West Coast is the land of IPA but we here at Dogfish beg to differ. Notorious H.O.P. aka Hoppy Smalls is a collaborative brew between Ben and manager Matt Patton and is a strait forward big bad Double IPA, brewed with pounds and pounds of Citra, Simcoe, Amarillo, Warrior, and CTZ hops. Clocking in at a whopping 141 IBU’s, you might as well be sucking on a hop cone while drinking this beer. H.O.P. packs heat with a serious hop derived aroma of fresh cut grass, tropical fruit, and citrus. It’s given that H.O.P. rolls with mad flava, with an intense pungent cipher of interplaying resinous hops over a smooth laid back malt profile. You can almost hear Diddy whispering “uh huh, yeeeeah…” in the background as you sip. Of course, it loves it when you call it Big Hoppa, and that’s word to your mother. Notorious H.O.P. couldn’t go any better with our Indulgence Burger or Dog Pile.

Can I say HOP BOMB.

Holy flavor explosion.

Appearnace: orangish brown with one finger off white head

Smell: hops and then some more hops

Taste: let's be honest here more hops

Mouthfeel: mild carbonation, medium body

Overall: a really nice explosive ipa. Could be a little more balanced but knowing what Patton wanted this is defiently fitting the bill.

Had on tap at DFH in Rehoboth.

A: Pours a hazy orange color with a small white head on top. Decent retention, reducing slowly to a foam cap on top. Sporadic lacing.

S: Tons of citrus fruit. Mostly grapefruit and grapefruit rind. There is also a little bit of a floral aroma and some pine.

T: Again, more citrus, plenty of grapefruit and pineapple. There is a little bready malt, but mostly, the flavor profile is dominate by the hops. Very juicy.

M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation, slightly dry, but not overly bitter.

O: A very nice DIPA, one of the better brewpub exclusives of late. Would certainly order this again.
