The appearance was a nice light to somewhat hazy golden yellow to orange color. The bar pour didn’t allow too much head but once the beer went down the lacing looked pretty nice as it trickled for the most part. The smell had a nice blend of sweet citrus fruits and allowed the normal amount of English pale malts to amplify a smooth take on the style. The taste was mainly sweet but light. On the palate, this one sits about a light to medium with a decent sessionability running about it. The carbonation seems appropriately matched for the style as it shows a decent harshness but not overbearing. Overall, I say this was a pretty good English Pale Ale that went excellent with the Reuben I had.

On tap at the Dogfish Head Ale House in Gaithersburg MD. Served in a Shaker Pint Glass.

Appearance: Hazy gold with a hint of amber/honey color to it. Thin white head with fine strands of persistent lacing.

Smell: Not a lot of aroma. A tiny bit floral and herbal.

Taste: Bready malt with a hint of honey. The hops brought a woody/herbal bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Good thickness. A bit sticky on the teeth. A little bit too carbonated for the style. Got a bit fizzy toward the end of the glass.

Overall / Drinkability: An American take on a English Pale ale, and not quite hitting the style. I think it's an American Pale Ale with some English malt. It's tasty, just not amazing vs. the rest of the lineup produced by this brewer. One is enough but I would probably have it again. Went well with a brisket grilled cheese and fries.

Tastes bready with a hint of hops. Hops are a faint herbal sun tea note. Not a great beer, but coming into air conditioning after a hot walk and drinking this was quite nice. Balanced and refreshing, but wouldn't try more than once unless it was free in the future.

On tap at the Falls Church restaurant.

Not your typical over the top DFH offering. In some respects a normal brew. Nevertheless, just an average effort on this brew.

A - Too pale. Faded yellow with a foamy white head.

6/10...served on tap. Pours hazy bronze with heavy white foam. Bright fruity nose. Malty. Light malt taste with a crisp citrus bite. Notes of rind. Creamy. Simple sharp bite, and tasty. Rather simplistic for DFHBC but well made.

A brew I had 32oz of at Firefly this year ... it's pretty decent. A little "dusty" tasting than I like, but hey, it IS an English Pale -- this just isn't the style of beer I would expect for Firefly. Maybe something with citrus in it -- a kind of shandy, maybe? Something infinitely refreshing. This is good anyway though.

...maybe a cayenne pepper and lemon shandy? I'd dig that..

All-in-all, a good beer, just not a brew I would have made to be a staple at a hot-hot-hot music festival.
