Bottle. Almost black with a small beige head. Aroma of bourbon barrel, chocolate, roast, vanilla. Rich, boozy, sweet, roasty and slightly bitter. Full bodied. Very boozy.

Had this at Dogfish Head Brew pub in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

A: Opaque black in color, with a dark tan head at the top, little bit of lacing around the glass as well.

S: Lots of character on the nose, chocolate, hops, slight hints of a sweet fruit, couldnt make it out.

T: The taste was fantastic, lots of flavor but a perfect balance, chocolate, brown sugar, caramel, hops and malts.

M: Thick and creamy with slight carbonation, warming.

O: One of the best beers I have ever had, perfect balance and flavor, glad I was able to try this.

I had this draught in May during Craft Beer Week.

It's prefect.

Perfect balance of flavour. Everything about it was perfect.

Hate me for it but I accidentally knocked a glass over and wasted 3 oz and had to buy another to make up for what was lost.

Poured at 56 degrees; fast fizzy cola brown head; dark brown to black with ruby see through; no cap retention, no ring; micro dots of lace and thick legs on swirl. Bourbon, dark fruits and roast malt; boozy exhale; roast coffee as liquid warms. Taste follows nose; bourbon, sweet plums, bittersweet dark chocolate; toffee, caramel, coffee, oak middle; boozy finish. Medium full body; slick feel; face flushing warmth; alcohol bite on tongue. Overall, layers of whiskey, chocolate and char; nice interplay between malt and barrel notes, but boozy hot; not for the faint of heart.

BBA World Wide Stout from Dogfish Head. Purchased on 27/1/21 for $ 9.00 (Including tax) for a 12 oz bottle ($ 0.750/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. On the room temperature shelf at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 16/2/21. (Note: I use DD/MM/YY protocol.)
Stamped on neck in green ink “BOTTLED ON 11/01/19”. Served at 48.7 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 59.5 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5. Basically, looks like every other Imperial stout, sans head.
First pour – Brown (SRM 20), clear.
Body – Brown (SRM 20), opaque. When rear-lite, light penetration occurs around the brown edges.
Head – Small (Maximum 0.5 cm, aggressive center pour), bronze, low density and fizzy, gone in seconds, creating an irregular ring of ever-renewing bubbles heavily fed by effervescence, and no cap.
Lacing – None, as expected at 18.3% ABV.
Aroma – 3.5– Begins with bourbon and a bit of brown sugar, no hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.75 – Begins with a moderate bourbon-malt sweetness which slowly leaves a bitter aftertaste. No hops, no yeast. No alcohol (18.3 % ABV, according to BA, NOT marked on the container) flavor or aroma. A molten bolus passes down my esophagus and collects in my stomach where it eventually burns itself out.
Palate – 3.75 – Full, syrupy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 The best term to describe this is “Raw”, although it does slightly mellow as it warms. I was expecting a bit of roasted malt or at least a touch of graininess since this is “A very dark ale with a ridiculous amount of barley”. Nope – straight bourbon extract. I suspect this needs to age another few years before consumption – may be a good choice for Extreme Beer Fest 2031.

12 oz. bottle, 7 months old. Pours dark brown with a tinge of cola hue. Quickly disappearing head. Aroma is magnificent, bourbonesque up front, overpowering hints of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits. Taste is a bourbon rush that went straight to this tasters sinuses, meaning that it opened my nose, due to the high ABV, which was not noted on the bottle or carton. DFH rates it at 18.3. Very malt bodied, with the taste of the aforementioned aromas. Mouthfeel is warming attributed to the high alcohol, also quite smooth. Aftertaste is clingy, dare I say lip smacking, very nice. My checkout cashier said. “Worth every cent.” Yep, it’s high priced, a lot went into this brew. Glad I bought it, after all, YOLO! Cheers.

On tap at Dogfish Head Brewings and Eats in Rehoboth Beach, DE. 2019 batch.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and no lacing.

This smells like dark fruit, rich and intense char, bourbon, oak, smoke, deep dark chocolate, and vanilla.

World Wide is one of the few high octane gasoline-style beers from DFH that I do like, and this really does improve it. Some of that booze is tempered by the barrel-aging, giving the impression that this beer already has had five years on it. That boozy character has subsided, leaving an intense charred oak and bourbon character, big roast character, port, raisins, and vanilla.

This is thick, and creamy, and definitely a slow sipper, as you can feel the heft on this one.

This brings me back to why I used to love Dogfish Head when I first was getting into beer - the barrel aging process has really improved this (already pretty solid) stout.
