Good selection of beer, tour is longer now since they take you outside to the bottling/packing warehouse. Employees in the bar area seems a little snooty. For example, even though I was trying to get service they seemed to ignore me and continue conversations with each other. When we were finally served and the person I was with had enough beer, they promptly came over to us said said sharing is not allowed and dumped the beer. The sample sizes were not that big but the guy told me something about Delaware law. It seemed odd, since Fordham / Old Dominion down the line were really laid back with bigger sample sizes and had an awesome family vibe, but whatever.

This trip to Delaware was pretty last minute and little preparation was done before visiting this brewery. In fact, if I had done more research I would have found out that there is a small brewery right where I was staying in Georgetown, D.E. Anyways, I digress. So, here is the deal with Dogfish Head. If you go in the front door and talk to someone you will find out that you can take a tour(they are big on tours) and have a tasting, or just go right ahead and do the tasting. I skipped the tour and went for the tasting. They give you and your guests a card per person. On the card there are four places for beer choices. You get to write down four beers that you want free samples of in a 5 ounce glass(just a guess). You go to the bar, or tasting area and wait. You will wait for a while. Once someone actually aknowledges your exsistence they will look down at your card and spot one of the beer names that have not been scratched off. They scratch off a name and go and get you one sample. They only get you one sample at a time. So, they come back with a small tasting glass full of your choice of beer. There was about 6 choices of beers and one was not a beer, but a soda. They had World Wide Stout(barrel aged vanilla), pumpkin ale, Sea Quench ale, Their imperial brown ale called Palo Santo Marron 12%, and this craft soda. The pumpkin ale was very light and not much flavor. The Sea Quench ale was light and tastey. The Palo Santo looked more like a stout, or maybe a porter and was pretty good. The World Wide Stout was pretty delicous. Here is the thing. We went in the side of the building, no one told us about the cards and we waited at the bar and the servers were super rude to us. As soon as I figured out about the cards we were treated a bit more fairly, but if you don't know about the cards you are looked as very strangely and responded to very rudely, vaguely and you just have to figure it out for yourself that you need go to the front of the place first. There are like 10 people behind the bar and if you don't have a card they don't know what to do. I wish they would have just told us to go over to the front and get a card. We waited for a while and no one mentioned the cards. Anyways, the service really could use some help, but it was nice to get free samples and then try some actual pints of things that we liked.
They have a gift shop with beer, t-shirts, coasters, other various types of merch. The gift shop kind of sucks because everything is over priced. There were no special deals because you went to the brewery. I guess the beer is more fresh, but I wasn't really into buying alot of stuff that is too pricey. They have a food truck outside and the food is actually pretty good. The prices on food are also very fair. So, the food truck was maybe the best thing about it, well, no, I mean the beer was, but it always disapponts me how oddly the service is at breweries. I guess I shouldn't expect good service though because it is a brewery and not a restaraunt. Although, these people do own a restaraunt in Rehoboth. Here is an odd thing, there was alot of babies in the brewery. Alrighty, enough rant for now I am done.

Gets good marks for those wishing to try most of the DFH beers that otherwise easily available many places. Usual gift shop. Tasting area is large but largely nondescript. For people seeking to explore new beers or experimental beers...it is essentially boring...don't waste your time. Better chances at the Rehoboth brew pub. Despite well deserved reputation for the "off centered" and very high quality beers...there is a bit of the Stone "corporate" thing going on here. Guess we all have to grow up someday.
