Thanks to DrAwkward82 for sharing this one at drewone's place.

Pours a murky reddish-brown with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is sour, tart, and musty with some acidic and fruity aromas. Taste is much the same with some malt, caramel, and slight whiskey flavors. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and an interesting experiment from the brewer.

(Description from the bottle)
This barrel-aged blend of beers deviates from convention and pays homage to free-thinkers and bold innovators who prove that straying from the norm can create something special. Eccentricity #3 blends the subtly spicy tones of our Quad with the nuanced, honey-toned character of our Stingo. Ten months of aging in Rye Whiskey barrels further enhances its complexity. Microflora cultures inherent to the barrels lend a mild acidity, while a secondary fermentation in the bottle adds effervescence to this eccentric ale.

* * *

A: Dark brown, hazy, slight head formation that settles down quickly

S: Big sour smell, coupled with oaky vanilla and honey

T: Big sour taste as well! That sourness mingles nicely with the malt sweetness and oak barrel flavor. Not getting much actual rye whiskey flavor, however. There’s also a bit of cherry flavor in the finish.

M: Body is perfect for style in that it has ample carbonation, though isn’t over done.

O: I’ve never had a Free State beer like this before, but I’m excited to see that they can do a wild ale. I think this turned out nicely and am really enjoying it. With that said, one glass is plenty. Hopefully more Eccentricities will be released in the near future.
