Served on tap into a pint glass at Free State Brewery in Lawrence, KS while visiting Kansas City, MO. They had just tapped the keg that day. (4/26/13) notes written down

A - Straw yellow color standard white head. What's really incredible about this beer is the lacing it leaves behind, it covers the whole of the glass. Filtered.

S - Fresh dry hop smell, smells like an Avery IPA. Delicious and fruity freshness.

T - Clean hop taste, all about the hops but the malt stands up to make the beer not watery. This is what all the buzz was about at this brewery you can taste a unique hop quality that holds a candle to any beer in the country. Seriously. In Kansas. Surprising.

M - Fresh light bubbly nature, malt mouthfeel is just enough to keep the hops glued to your tongue.

O - What a great value, this beer would go for $7 a pint in Boston ($4 in Lawrence) if your in Kansas City, Lawrence, or anywhere near there, this is worth the trip. The simplicity of this beer is something sought after by a stiff critic of American hops.

An IPA using Galaxy, Centennial and Crystal hops with an English malt underneath. Looks really nice. Bright golden, perhaps a bit light. Head and lacing are white and halfway rocky

Citrus and pine aroma with some hints of green grass. Not a balanced IPA, but it's not far off.

The Optic malt is sturdy yet not overly sweet or powerful. Gives a nice body throughout and a solid platform for the hops to show off their characters. Pine keeps the citrus from going wild and they meld well together.

Nice sharp bite without the resin of some IPAs. Dry and quenching. A bit of malt residue. Really like this one
