On tap at the brewpub.
A: Clear bright gold body with only a thin ring of fine white bubbles on top. No lace.
S: Watermelon is dominant and rather pleasant, actually, with a good mix of sweet juice and bitter rind. The characteristic BAR butteriness spoils things a bit, though.
T: Smooth watermelon up front, buttered toasty midway through, and a crisply bitter finish. Not too bad, surprisingly enough.
M: Light-bodied and moderately carbonated. Nice and creamy.
O: I first tried this years ago, and at the time it was the worst beer I'd ever tasted. This summer's incarnation is greatly improved, and if it weren't for the typical faults endemic to the brewery this would actually be a really good watermelon beer. I still wouldn't recommend it, but compared to what I was expecting this was phenomenal.
Cheers!

This beer was really interesting. It has a very watermelony feel about it. From the appreance to the smell to the taste to the aftertaste, it is completely watermelon. The underlying malt is hard to detect over the extremely potent watermelon flavor.
The beer has a pink color to it with a short white head with tints of pink. The smell is like a faint watermelon jolly rancher which is interesting because that doesn't even taste like a watermelon. The flavor is actually not as sweet as you would expect from the smell, but it is still very sweet. Not bad for a summer beer because of how interesting it is. The aftertaste is very watermelony as well, but it is kind of hard to drink alot of because of how sweet it is. Well worth a try because it is really interesting.

Saw this advertised in yankee brew news and was able to score some at the taste of hartford. One might think that watermelon and beer dont mix, well i was made a believer. Even with a wedge of watermelon sticking right in it. Great fresh fruity smell that is quite good. Not overly sweet just right. Good white head and decent mouthfeel. Definetly want to try again.

SCored a growler of this from Stopper who is assistant brewer at Bar. The beer pours a clear gold color with a small fizzy off white head that fades to nothing quickly. When I look into the glass from above there is a lite pink tint to the beer as well.
Aroma is fruity sweet with obvious watermelon notes but not overwhelming for sure. Even a little bit of rind scent in there. Scent is mild overall.
First sip reveals a lite bodied crisp beer, with very mild carbonation. I Think the carb levels are from the growler fill not the beer itself. Time to visit Bar for a pint or two methinks!
The flavor starts sweet and fruity with watermelon and a bit of sugary hard candy flavor and rolls to a grainy caramel finish. A well made beer that does not throw fruit in your face and is very refreshing and tasty. A great summer beer for sure!
