Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A Contemporary style IPA with an Irish twist. Combining the balance of European IPAs with the generous dry hopping of American pale ales (APAs), this beer is everything an IPA should be and more.

Zesty and refreshingly bitter, the finish is long. With a copper tone body topped with a lightly carbonated head, the dry hopping brings an intense aroma and lasting array of fruit and floral notes.

From the bottle, it pours a lighter amber with a modest head. Scent is a bit of malt and hops - citrusy? Taste is a slightly bitter malt. Overall: Decent!

Poured from a brown 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of lemons, malts. Taste is malts, herbal, hints of lemons, light bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, drinks more like an English IPA, decent, but nothing special.

Flat, golden, murky, cloudy color. Not much head. Light fizz / carbonation. Hoppy right from the git-go but not as much as a typical IPA (I realize this is not precisely an IPA). Pretty rough on its own. I prefer this beer / ale with a meal or at least some nuts, etc. It needs something to stand up to it.

Decanted into a conical pint glass: production stamped 31 Jul 2015. Poured a dark bronze color with a 3/8 inch head and nice lacing. Smells of honey and citrus fruits; taste thus unexpected with distinct caramel toffee and nuget flavors interlaced among the maltiness. Light bodied, with very pleasant mouthfeel, as effervescence lasted throughout consumption. Interesting take on an American IPA; would definitely try or serve again.

From XXXII. In Teku glass. Playing Tomb Raider 2015. Closer to an english IPA than to an american one, with some tea-like profile

I got this in a microbrew of the month package. I didn't know there was even such a thing as an Irish Pale Ale. This isn't a normal Pale Ale, though. It's an Irish style American IPA. It's smell, feel, and taste are all very above average. I don't want to say great, just yet as I am enjoying it for the first time. I am really liking it though. It's brewed in Ireland, and what I am having is from a bottle. Very enjoyable and I encourage any American style IPA lover to seek it out. It's really good.

On-tap 5/13/2016 at Doherty’s Ale House in Warwick, RI, served in a tapered pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a large foamy white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains caramelized malts, some citrus and some hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with a hearty malt character up front. Then some sweetness comes in from flavors of caramel, honey and citrus. The hops presence is mild for the style but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, it’s a solid beer but there are others in the style that I would choose first.
