Dark chestnut amber with a reddish brown head of rocky foam that leaves fine lace on the glass. Aromas of fresh bread, toasted grain and honey. Tastes nice, roasty and sweet malt with some dry fruit and very little hop present in the flavor, just enough bittering to balance the mildly chalky smooth finish. Medium light bodied, smooth and crisp. A good session beer for sure.

The black color of this beer was good, it lost some however because it had poor head retention, and very little lacing. The smell was of sweet and roasted malts. The taste of this beer was very good. First a wave of dark chocolate, followed by sweet malt. The finish was a the right hint of hop spice. Mouthfeel was ok. Drinkability was good. Went down nice and was not to filling.

Overall I enjoyed this beer a great deal. Interested to try more of this style as well.

500ml Can

Appearance - The beer pours a dark brown colour with a very large frothy and fizzy light brown coloured head. I can't see much carbonation due the darkness of the beer and there is very nice lacing running down the sides of the glass. The head lasted for several minutes before it began to disappear.

Smell - breads/grains, a skunkiness, malts, roasted/toasted nuts

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an average amount of carbonation and it feels very light and creamy on the tongue. Most of the taste consists of breads/grains and grassy notes. But there are also underlying tones of malts and light coffee flavours. There is also a bit of a metallic flavour to the beer. It finishes with malty and light chocolate aftertaste.

Drink - I was really impressed with this beer, it's almost like it has the best of both worlds; light like a lager but tasty like an ESB. It also had a really great appearance. Worth seeking out.

This is a great dark beer. Nice malty flavor, with a surprisingly crisp and fresh mouthfeel. Doesn't feel heavy or warming at all--instead, tastes light and refreshing. Malts are pronounced but mild enough for this beer to be highly drinkable. Beautiful dark color. Would highly recommend.
