12oz brown bottle from the brewery.

Lacking in carbonation a bit which did not create much of a head, perfect clarity in the bright golden hue. Big wafts of taffy, fresh baked bread, spice, and floral water in the nose and on the palate. Slightly warming, moderate body yet a little creamy, spicy alcohol finish.

Damn tasty, just wished the carbonation was up a little bit more to make this beer pop.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Harpoon bulb glass.

The color is a hazy yellow with a thin layer of white head and slight lacing left on the glass.

The smell is a bit boozy with a banana or plantain like aroma. There is also a slight cream aroma in the nose that has a slight fig aroma behind it.

The taste is fruity at first with a slight strawberry sweetness. The boozy flavor comes as in the aroma and imparts some of dry malt flavor. There is a slight white grape flavor followed by a tease of a dry banana before some slight bitterness appears at the end.

The feel of the beer is medium bodied with a slight drinkable feel. There seems to be plenty to this beer and is weights it down slightly. Each sip seems to push you a little further then a typical beer does and makes for a slow sipper.

a: Clear gold with a finger thick white head which receded quickly to thin surface foam and dense lacing. Lots of tiny suspended "floaties."

s: Very mild light fuiit.

t: Mild light fruit over a strong alcohol and hop bite which mellows out a lot later. Mainly dry finish.

m: Medium to full, very good body, moderate carbonation tingle.

o; A rather unusual tripel with muted flavor. Floaties suggest something may be amiss, or could be (doesn't say) bottled conditioning yeast remnants. Powerful yet drinkable.

Quick notes:

First off, this is definitely an Americanized Tripel; it doesn't match up with the better Abbey Tripels, nor the best American versions.

However, it's very tasty, and it hits most of the right notes. Bright and slightly fruity (slightly citric) notes accent a thick malt body, with an excellent yeast presence. Plenty of banana and pear. The 10% ABV is exceptionally well hidden.

This is a beer I wouldn't mind having again. It by no means would be my go-to Tripel, but I really enjoyed it.

Note: beer was aged almost 1 year when I had it, which certainly smoothed it out overall, and allowed the yeast to establish quite a presence.

On-tap 10/12/2014 at Doherty’s Ale East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a light cloudy orange/gold color, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a very thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains citrus, Belgian yeast, spices, caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of citrus, spices and caramel. Then a significant alcohol bite comes in along with breadiness from Belgian yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. The hops presence is and provides a little balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and but not very smooth, medium body, low-to-medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, strong kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely better choices within the style.

A: The beer is clear bright yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation along with fine particulates floating in suspension. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that died down, leaving a small patch of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of candi sugars and fruity esters are present in the nose.
T: The taste mostly follows the smell and has flavors of apples and candi sugars along with light bits of associated sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite drinkable considering its strength as it manages to hide any traces of alcohol very well from the taste. I felt that the aroma could have been stronger and that the taste could have had some more complexity.

I poured this beer into a glass, it has a golden color body with a thin head. The aroma has a banana and yeast aroma. The taste has a banana and citrus flavor. The flavor is well balanced and crisp. The mouthfeel is smooth and overall a really good tripel.
