A cold weather game changer of a beer, Embrr is every bit as rich and tasty as its sonorous name suggests. A true wake up call if you haven’t started packing away your Summer whites yet. Embrr (not a typo!) is brewed with a hefty portion of rye and flaked rye to give this smooth porter a rich chocolaty body and hint of spice. Embrr is brewed with 2-Row, Chocolate, Rye, Flaked Rye, Crystal, Roasted Barley, and Sybilla hops.

This is a fall seasonal that was probably bottled in mid October. It is supposed to be brewed for a cold night and tonight certainly qualifies as a cold one here.
The beer pours out into a Duvel glass a very dark brown, almost black, color and has a 1/4" light tan head that slowly but visibly recedes leaving a bit of a ring, a few patches of lacing and an island of foam made up of mixed size bubbles. Sipping creates lots of scattered small patches of lacing and an couple of arms of lacing. It isn't long before the island of foam gives way to a few irregular streaks of thin foam on the surface. By the end of the beer most of the surface is clear but there is still a tiny ring of foam around the glass.
The aromas include chocolate, cocoa and some dark roasted malts. There's also a bit of rye bread back in there along with what seems to be touches of dark roast barley malt and some herbal character from the hops.
The flavors are somewhat as expected from the nose with some chocolate, cocoa and a touch of sweetness. The roasted malt and rye bread are in the background along with what is just a touch of spicy and herbal hop bitterness. The spicy bitterness plays a minor role but one that lingers for quite a while on the back of the palate.
The mouthfeel is towards the light side of medium-bodied and slightly prickly from the persistent moderate carbonation. The finish begins about mid way through as the chocolate, cocoa, dark roast malt and sweetness begin to fade and the herbal slightly spicy hops mingle with the rye bread before both fade into dryness.
I've enjoyed this beer enough that I'd be happy to have another and it is definitely a beer that I'll be looking for again during the fall of this year right after the next release and when it is fresher so that the complex interplay of flavors can be more easily explored than with one having a few months of age.

Dark, brown color . Medium-sized, beige head. The aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and some spices, probably rye effect. Toasted malt, bread, and chocolate in taste. Decent hoppy and roasted bitterness from the beginning till the end.

L - Embrr pours into a chalice the color of a Coke, with a thin 1/2 inch tan head.
S - Spice, ginger, malts, hint of coffee
T - Coffee, roasted/toasted malts, ginger, some hop tang.
F - NIce effervescent quality. Medium body. Balanced texture. Dry.
O - The Ithaca Embrr is a delicious porter. The predominant taste is coffee, but is not an overpowering flavor. This brew is robust without being heavy. It has a lively character, layers of flavor on the palate, and a nice dry finish which, for me, quickens the pace to the next sip.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle which looks to be dated 10-12-15. Sampled March 23, 2016.
The pour is dark brown with some reddish hues and a short-lived off-white head.
The aroma has some classic Porter elements including dark sweet malts and a little barley grain with a low hop profile.
Medium body.
The taste is more on the sweet malty side with a mild bitterness at the end.
