One pineapple & a loaf of bread.
Two tablespoons of honey & a field of hops.
A twig from a pine tree & a bouquet of tulips.
A dash of white pepper & a dog's kiss on the cheek.
Golden-amber, medium-bodied, & floral, hence its name.
Bitter on the attack & finish;
A bitterness that needs a blue cheese to spar with it.
A bitterness that needs some French fries or kettle chips.
It has a maltiness that summons Upstate's vast western region, full of as much mystery as the City.
The porches, the factories, the small towns, the mountains, and rivers.
The snow, the birds, the universities, the tractors, and the wind.

Poured from a growler into a pint glass. Color is a really nice orange-gold, a bit hazy. Two-finger dense and frothy white head leaves decent lacing. First hit of the smell for me was grapefruit and cat pee ( the good kind), though the aroma became much more muted after that first blast, resolving to a subtle citrus and tropical fruit. I get more of a spicy herbal flavor that carries through to the finish, which is pleasantly lingering with medium bitterness. Good carbonation keeps things lively. The malt provides a sweetness which for me is just right (the sweet spot?) to balance the spicy hops. This is a delicious IPA--glad I got it.

I'm really liking the smell of this beer right away. Quite citrus and some dankness fruity. First sip the citrus was lighter than I would have thought which quickly gives way to a dry malt finish with some light bitterness coming through. Good beer but really no sweetness/fruitiness coming through from what I detected on the nose. Feel like I could drink this easily and alcohol content hidden. Like it.

Pours a deep copper with a two finger head that settles nicely leaving big globs of foam down the side of the glass, aromas of pine needles and some nuttiness.Taste is a hop heaven piney and resiny with nutty malt backbone very dry makes you want more.A soapiness in the finish may keep the drinkability a little lower but if you like hops you'll like this for sure, well made and highly drinkable well done.

Amber in color with a fingernail of bright white on top. Heavy lacing is present. The aroma is fairly straightforward with plenty of citrus hops. The taste is aggressively filled with citrus hops with a nice light malt backbone to keep things from being out of hand. The mouth is very crisp and refreshing.

12 oz can in Dublin, Ohio.
Hazy amber body with a white head that displays good retention.
Moderately hoppy, strong and bitter for an American IPA. Fruity and herbal notes with a touch of earthy. Hints of ripe apricots and pears.
Medium body and medium-high carbonation.

Honey amber color, spotty bubbly white foam. Spread out and lacy.
A very bold hop aroma here, citrus, pine and spicy. The malt delivers a fine dose of honey sweetness, ripens up the body and mouthfeel, provides very nice balance.
The taste has multiple layers, a pineapple and grapefruit bite is most obvious with smaller amounts of dry, earthy notes underneath.
The feel is crisp but also pretty heavy with the abundance of honey sweet malt.
A bold and complex offering with a mighty nice malty balance.

Trying this beer at the bar in the Embassy Suites in Downtown Pittsburgh. It poured a clear golden with white head that left some lace. The scent had hints of potpourri. The taste if fairly well balanced with floral notes being present. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a solid beer.

Pours slightly hazy golden orange with solid head from can into glass. Smell is floral hops, bread, some sweet malts, and mild pineapple and maybe some other fruit. Taste is the same, with a bit less breadiness. Refreshing feel with minimal dryness. Easy drinking and a solid IPA.

16 oz can dated... um, does anyone know how to read petri-dish?

Pours a hazy deep gold-orange color with a one-finger head that settles down to a thick velvety blanket - actually pretty good looking.

My first whiff of the aroma reminded me of many of the "hazies" on the Northeast coast where there is a muddled hop smell that is vaguely tropical in the background, but overrun by a citrusy grain scent - I think this is the sweet malt aroma coming through but it can also be described as "spicy". The aroma grows more intense as the beer mellows in the glass, so give it a few.

The taste also gets more intense with mellowing. It is a hop-forward beer with only a mild sweet malt backbone. It is weak up front but then the citrus hop flavor grows along with a seltzery buzz. Thing is - I don't get any tropicals out of this, only lemon, grapefruit, pine and maybe a little stone fruit. It finishes with a moderate bitterness that creeps up and crowds out the pleasant hop flavor.

Feel is somewhat clean without stickiness, medium bodied with low to moderate bitterness.

So I think this is a really good take on the Northeast "hazy" (*not* a NEIPA mind you). The goal is a very hop forward, low but sweet malt, low bitter beer. This delivers well and I think the best points go to the seltzery hop flavor in the mid-taste range. That's worth trying it out alone, otherwise this would get lost among good but not great southern Maine beers.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a cloudy yellow color with tons of sediment and a large white head. The aroma is floral hops and some fruit. The taste is citrus and hops.

Comes in a hazy, translucent deep gold, with a creamy white head. Excellent retention and lacing.

Smells of really sweet fruit and some malt. Big, pungent, overripe ruby red grapefruit and blood orange, caramel and honey, toast, pineapple, papaya, pine, and earth.

Smacks upfront with pink grapefruit, blood orange, and tangerine; leading into mango, papaya, and pineapple. The malt backbone is big and offers toast, honey, and toffee. Sweet, but not too sweet. Moderately bitter near the finish with some evergreen, pine cone, and fresh dirt. Ends crisply and lightly dry. Alcohol well hidden. Some light lingering bitterness.

Medium-plus mouthfeel, medium-plus carbonation. Big and rounded, yet moves quickly, ends lightly dryly, and leaves sappy, oily, pine resin and grapefruit peel sensations.

The first IPA I ever had, and still my favorite local IPA. A excellent combination of tropical splendor and West Coast style hop bomb.

Poured from bottle into a long Pilsner glass. Look is a cloudy golden color with a good 2 finger white head that stays and cascades all the way down the glass. Smell is a strong citrusy floral hoppy aroma that continues with the taste. Very smooth and light feel in mouth for a 7.5% ABV IPA. Overal this is exactly my kind of flowery/citrusy IPA with hints of orange, pineapple, and lemon, followed by lovely flowery hop flavor a with no malty backbone. Very dangerous though cause it goes down so easily!

The appearance is a clear light golden body with a one finger off-white head with light slowly moving streams of carbonation seen rising. The smell has a nice floral hoppiness along with a bit of grassiness, citrus and pine that combines very nicely. The taste took those flavors and added a bit of back punch of malt as the beer warmed. On the palate, its about a light sort of body and slightly spritzy with an acceptable amount of harshness on the tongue due to the style, it had a dry and bitter finish. Overall, for the most part, this is good for me and good for the style.

12 oz bottle brought back from northern NY to northern IL. The aroma is more floral, piney and citrusy, yet the taste is drier, maltier and hoppier. A solid east coast IPA, hoppy but not near as citrusy as west coast IPAs, and with a more bitter finish.

L -- Pours an amber orange body with near-total clarity. Two-fingers of off-white head produced with moderate pour. Good retention and great lacing
S -- Primarily grassy, resinous, and malty. Hint of floral
T -- Pine, floral, caramel malt, grass, earth, dried lemon rind. Quite bitter
F -- Medium mouthfeel, medium carb. Rather bracing bitterness, but has a nice fluffiness and dimensionality to it
O -- Sadly no canning date on this, which makes it difficult to gauge whether the lack of hop character was due in part to old age. More earthy/malty than floral

Ithaca Flower Power IPA:

Pours a hazy straw color, and smells of tropical fruits and hop bitterness. Taste follows the nose. Piney, tropical hop flavors. Quite bitter, but has great drinkability. This is one of the staples for me as IPA's go, and it is always readily available near me. Flower power!

On tap at Atrium Grille and Bar at the Embassy Suites in Syracuse - This is one beautiful IPA. Pours slightly hazy light golden with a lasting, clingy-as-all-get-out finger of white foam that laces every sip to the bottom. Aroma is citrus all the way, with just a bit of tropical fruit (mango?) to take it into one of the top beers I've smelled. Flavor is similar, with citrus blast dominating up front, a nice malt backbone mid-sip, and just slightly dry on the finish with some lingering grapefruit. Very good stuff

Bottle into a snifter.

3.5 A: Moderately hazed medium orange color with granular particles in suspension. Two fingers of creamy white head. Retention is about average and a finger ring of lacing is left.

3.75 S: Rich maltiness with plenty of peachy fruitiness. Floral, resiny, and citrusy hops. Caramel malts to round it out.

4.0 T: Hops per above with peachy, orange, and pineapple citrus. Again strong neutral maltiness with caramel notes and light toffee.

4.0 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Pleasantly creamy and super smooth.

4.25 D: Good mix of hops and malts. Great beer overall.

I do not think I have sampled this in the bottle before today. I have had it on tap several times on Long Island or NYC but never made it to a review. Big, attractive golden body with cream colored head and a pine resin and medicinal hops driven nose.

This is sharp but very clean, with a strong piney bitterness with a tropical fruit chaser. Well balanced and highly drinkable for its octane, this mostly lives up to the hype.

No canned on date. I can tell it was once hoppy by the lingering ibus but given the lack of hop aroma all together I presume this is quite old.

Not sure how I try this fresh though since they don't (or at least not legibly) date their shit.

Pours a golden orange, with some lacing. Aromas run the gamut--earthy, pine, floral at first, then citrus and tropical fruits coming out as it warms. Pineapple and grapefruit notes, met with a resiny, almost woody taste. Pretty standard degree of bitterness. Average ("balanced") mouthfeel.

The first time I had this, on draft, it seemed more distinctly fruity and floral. But out of the bottle it tasted similar to West Coast IPAs. Overall a quality beer at a gettable price.
