A: Perfectly clear burnt yellow body, a little lighter then I expected though. There was a pure white laced head that disappears quickly.

S: Very grassy and unidimensional on the hop front. There was some caramel there but not much.

T: Good but not great. There is some pine and grass flavors in the front and then the flavor just drops off. there is almost no flavor from the malts which I should have expected from the light colored body.

M: A little thin and overly carbonated.

O: This is one of the better east coast IPAs I've had but it still is not that good. If you live on the east coast this is a good option but if you are on the west, I wouldn't request it in a trade.

Flower Power hit MA hard. A week after I bought it at the local store, it seems to have sprung up everywhere.

Upon popping the cap, there is immediate release of strong hop odor. It's floral and grassy and far stronger than most, even West Coast IPAs. Unfortunately, the hops aroma is fleeting. Once poured, it smells more malty and buttery with citrus and caramel notes.

Pours clear yellow, with substantial fine head. Head dissipates nicely, leaving behind a substantial collar and some lacing.

Initial bite is bitter, hoppy, almost firry/piny, followed by malt/caramel undertone. Strong fruity presence with spice notes--pineapple, bitter orange, allspice. Clearly hop-forward, the caramel and pineapple flavors linger along with a hint of eucalyptus, followed by sweet citrus and burnt sugar finish.

Body medium, light carbonation--no visible signs of carbonation, aside from the head, but clear effervescence on the tongue. Alcohol is even less noticeable than in Torpedo.

Overall a fairly balanced but complex IPA that does a nice dance on the taste buds. The flavor is not likely to survive beyond a single season, likely turning into a malt bomb with time. Drink up while fresh!

Flower Power pours a medium orange copper. There's a fluffy white head, with great retention and lacing.

The aroma is dominated by hops, as you'd expect. Citrus and grapefruit, mostly, with a touch of malty sweetness.

The taste follows the aroma. There's that slight sweetness that balances out an incredible hop flavor of citrus and grapefruit. There's a nice bitterness that hides the 7.50% ABV really well.

Mouthfeel is nice and light, with a slight alcoholic presence. Smooth with a touch of bitterness that lingers for a little.

This West-Coast style IPA has flown under the radar for too long. Exemplifying much of what an IPA should be, it's time Flower Power gets the recognition it deserves.
