Got this one from cparles and rutager. Thanks heaps, gents!

From a bomber into a snifter
CW 16 aged an additional year in bourbon barrels.
Drunk right after CW 16 for comparative purposes

APPEARANCE: A clear black pour yields a one finger, medium looking, foamy and fizzy, light brown head with good retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a half wisp and ring, though only the ring remains until the end leaving no lacing down the glass. Average at best; the black color saves it a little.

SMELL: Lots of bourbon, oak, milk chocolate, sweet cream, alcohol and notes of fudge brownies on the nose. Big and boozy with plenty of barrel. Coconut and plenty of toffee notes as well. Booze too. Alcoholic and bold stuff.

TASTE: Bourbon, alcohol, and toffee sweetness up front, before moving into a big finish of oak, vanilla and milk chocolate. Lots of alcohol here. Bold and lingering aftertaste of bourbon, coconut, vanilla, lightly burnt malts and lots of milk chocolate. Good hit of toffee lingers too. This is really good but isn't much different than the original bottling, obviously.

PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. Slightly lighter on the palate and a bit fizzy, prickly going down with a bit of a burn at the swallow and finishes very sticky. Some heat lingers.

OVERALL: Like the original, this is a fine example of the style. Some lovely stuff going on here. If you've had CW 16 though, there's not much point in tracking this one down to be honest. It's virtually the same, which is not surprising. The only slight difference might be that this one has a slight bit more toffee in the profile and the feel is even lighter, prickly and more alcoholic than the original. These are only minor issues though, as the beer is still a pleasure to drink. Thanks again for the beers, guys! These anniversary imperial stouts are always a treat.

I would say this is as close to perfect as it gets for a BA Stout! Huge bourbon nose and has incredible mouth feel and could easily pound a 22 by myself. Can't rave about it enough and am now ISO the '15!

Pours pitch black with a small tan head, leaving minimal lacing on the glass. Smells of intense fudgey brownies and a decent bourbon / oak one two punch. Some other complementary aromas try and break it up but they can only do so much. Taste is nearly identical with a big sweet brownie batter up front, not as sweet as the nose lead me to believe however, followed by the oak, bourbon and other flavors. Feel is as expected, big and thick, but as I said it wasn't as sweet as I was expecting. Sweet, dry finish lingers long after consumption has finished. Overall a very nice BA stout. Thanks for the pour Brian!

Not sure if this is the vintage I had at a recent bottle share. Good, solid example of the style, this beer holds up well against most similar brews. Worth trying when you get the chance.
