Not the darkest stout but a nice tan head sits atop for a good presentation. Smells like it is a bit on the boozy side. Notes of bourbon, alcohol, and vanilla. The flavor is not very complex. The bourbon and vanilla dominates the flavor and not much else. Alcohol flavor and heat in the finish. Bigger body and wonderfully carbonated. Nice soft and full feel. I feel that this beer could benefit to a little bottle aging to calm the alcohol heat down a bit.

Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Vanilla Bean Stout, 9.5% ABV. Pours black with a one finger tan head. Nose is bourbon and vanilla, taste follows, plus chocolate and coffee. Moderate bitterness. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent.

Love the smell of this beer. I get a ton of coconut on the nose. On the taste it is really really dry and malty.

Poured from 22oz bottle into glass. No bottling date information nor ABV% information found on label or on bottle.
Deep brown colored body, with mahogany highlights when presented to light. One finger tan head settles to thick, bubbly cap. Leaves a few strings of lacing.
Bourbon oak barrel is strong in the aroma, along with sweet vanilla. Dark roasted malts as a background.
Bourbon oak barrel is strong in the taste as well, with flavors of oak, dark fruit, and fudgy chocolate. Vanilla acts as a higher leveling agent in the taste profile. Taste is boozy but sweet as well. Lends itself to a mouth hold and then small swallows to activate different flavors. Alcohol dry at the end.
Medium to fuller mouth feel. A lot of Central Water's stouts are rather thin for mouth feel, but this is more substantial and thick, which expands the experience.
A solid base stout with the bourbon oak barrel notes really creating the experience here. The vanilla is certainly in the mix but more as a added flavor and balance to the boozier notes of the barrel. I applaud the effort.

On draft at CW. Dark black body, one finger offwhite head, short retention, no lacing. Smell is rich bourbon, light milk chocolate, mild marshmallow sweetness, a bit of espresso and oak. Flavour is good, a bit weak on the vanilla, but the body seems to have been buffed up a little bit compared to the regular Brewer's Reserve stout. Dark chocolate, a bit of cocoa, oak rounds things out. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, good carbonation, fair bit of depth. Overall not a bad BA vanilla stout, certainly not over the top as we'd like in our pastry stouts, but this would be a pretty good Brewer's Reserve 4-pack to have.

Re-review: First bottling, released summer 2018. This is a more complete stout, with a fair bit more marshmallowy vanilla bean sweetness than it did on draft, similar medium body with appropriate carbonation. A more integrated and vanilla-forward beer than it was initially presented on draft.
