12oz bottle poured into a Seidel.

S - Biscuity malt, layers of toasted malt. Clean fermentation.

A - Perfect deep-orange color. Excellent clarity. Off-white head slowly falls to a ring. No lacing.

T - Solid light toasty malt. Little bit of fruitiness throughout. Metallic after awhile. Mild sweetness but a little more than the style would permit. Bitterness is a little bit shy as well.

M - Medium-light body, moderate carbonation, semi-sweet.

O - This beer was bought warm off the shelf perhaps contributing to a weak aroma. The taste flaws I perceived were just barely off. On the light end of Oktoberfests.

Judgement - Try

Pours a brilliant, clear copper with a tan head and nice lacing.
The aroma is big on crackers and toffee with a hint of spice.
Tasty brew with a nice toffee and biscuit sweetness up front and a bit of spicy hops and a decent bittering finish.
Mouthfeel is very nice, smooth and nearly creamy.
This seems a well-done take on a traditional Marzen.

Look: what you'd expect in a marzen - more red than brown. Virtually no head after poured into a glass

Smell: nose in glass - faint smell of lager with hints of malt

Taste: good and actually a little thin compared to some others in this style. Not overly anything -- sweet, Carmel or malty. Not hoppy at all. No surprise ingredients.

Feel: smooth and a little bite of at end of each drink.

Overall: drinkable and a decent microbrewery Octoberfest. Would drink more and like many other Central Waters beers. Bought a sixer of bottles. Not as good as I remember when I first had it in 2011.

Pours clear, orange-brown in color woith 1/2 inch head. Taste is toasted malt, caramel, and slight earthy hops in the finish that provide good balance. Above average tasty lager. I will get this one again come the fall.

Appearance: Brilliant, brilliant reddish orange. 2” white cap, intricate grandma lace. Smell: Taste: Starts with sweet malt and then it gradually dries out and becomes more bread crusty as it moves through your mouth. Mouthfeel: Clean, creamy and smooth with a medium body and carbonation. Overall: A very drinkable malt driven Oktoberfest beer.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a stein glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep amber orange with lot of rising bubbles. Solid two finger off white head which slowly settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A toasty, bready, and nicely sweet malt forward aroma with hints of caramel, biscuit, and fruit. Toasted barley malt with upfront hints of sweet caramel, toffee, biscuit, grains, cracker, and lager yeast. Fruit hints of apple, pear, lemon, and a little fig. Subtle spice hints of cinnamon and pepper. Light earthy hop hints. A pretty solid smell.

Taste: Like it smells, a nicely bready, toasty, and sweet malt driven taste with notes of biscuit, caramel, and fruit undertones. Toasted barley malt with bready notes of biscuit, caramel, toffee, toast, grains, cracker, and lager yeast. Fried fruit notes of apple, lemon, and pear along with a little fig. Subtle spice notes of cinnamon, clove, and pepper. Very light with the earthy hops. A pretty solid Marzen taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, crisp, and very smooth with a drying finish.

Overall: A pretty solid take on a German style Marzen. Good mix of toasty malt and subtle fruit notes.

Fall and winter beer do change every year unless it comes from on of the mass produce companys, which is not a bad thing either. This one kind of takes pride with it. It says it on the label.

Color: nice amber color just like every other fall octoberfest beers.

Smeell: Not much smell but it is what it is. I can't smell very well.

Taste and Mouth: This beer taste like sitting arond a camp fire and getting graham cracks, mushroms, and chocalate. I really love this taste.

Overall: This beer just became my favorite fall beer and favorite from this brewery just far. I had their Shine On, Red Ale, Puppy Porter, Stout, IPA, etc. I really love this brewery. CHeers!

I am surprised by how few reviews of this beer there are and then I drank this beer and was surprised by what a poor effort Central Waters put out for their Oktoberfest. It is an attractive beer with its deep amber color and large, long lasting head, but it starts getting poor after that. The aroma is weak with just light notes of musty and cracker like malt. Has no qualities of a Marzen/Oktoberfest. It is more in line with a Munich Helles but that is not saying much for Helles beers. Has a slightly caustic flavor that I do not find appealling. Virtually no hop qualities or bitterness. For a beer with such a deep rich color, it lacks any good flavor. A medium-light body with good carbonation. Nice texture. Did not like this beer very much. Central Waters can do better.
