Best Central Waters beer I've had. A rare quality red beer.

Ouisconsing. I assume that's a play on "Wisconsin".

Appearance (4) : 3 finger head. 70% opaque Sherry wine body.

Aroma (4) : Hops are the first thing you smell. Some woody, barrel aged notes of malt and barley. A little bit of anise candy. Malts are very sweet smelling...caramel-like, with a fresh clean chlorinated water smell. The bouquet is rich and strong.

Taste (3.5) : Malty presence with a serious punch of hop, bursting with red flavor and starchy grain. The taste is great but gets old fast. Bitter hop on the finish with more barrel aged wheat/malt mixture.

Mouthfeel (3.5) : Creamy and robust, zing of carbonation underneath. Ends lightly hopped with a slight dry finish.

Overall (3.55) : An impressive red ale but not one I could drink all the time. The taste is great, shows character, could even win awards - but after a few sips I'm pretty much done here. Overwhelming hop presence and not exactly easy to drink. A harsher, hoppier take on the red ale.

A - Pours and opaque and cloudy chestnut brown. Nice lacing and head retention.

S - Caramel malts, toasted grains, grass.

T - Low to medium bodied - malts, caramel, some hop presence in the back end with with a sharp bitter finish. Really nicely balanced and highly drinkable.

O -Very solid red ale - extremely drinkable and full flavored. This could be a nice session ale.
