Picked this up on a beautiful tip by the salesguywhocantscoremeHawkstix--Lazzman (AKA KBS lover). Very dark brown-almost black with fluffy one inch head. Light tan on the edge and sticky lacing.

I could smell this all night long. Complexity leads to intrigue--vanilla, cola bourbon sweetness, coffee, dates, and malt chocolate concrete milkshake. Yeah, pretty solid.

Aroma lends well to the first sip. I love the bourbon. Vanilla follows with sweet malt. Another BA that drinks like a bourbon and splash of coke for me. Bourbon and roast coffee linger in the nose.

Creamy but not thick. I appreciate that I get no bitterness. Very pleasing.

Had this been thicker, I would've put this up there with BCBCS. A splendid quaff that is, IMO, up there with best in class. One would have to do a double take to make sure this wasn't KBS. If you see it, pull the trigger.

A - Poured into wine glass, with a pretty frothy head. Color is a deep brown with ruby highlights.

S - Thing that grabbed me right away was the smell. First whiff of whiskey, then some remote coffee/espresso notes, some char, tobacco, vanilla and toffee.

T - Taste is equally complex with more coffee coming to the forefront. More vanilla and some coconut.

M - Mouthfeel is smooth yet not overly rich. Quite drinkable.

O - Overall an amazing brew. Something I will seek out every time.

A: Black as night

S: Bourbon, coffee and subtle hints of chocolate

T: Coffee chocolatey bittersweet flavors followed by bourbon vanilla and finishes with some oak. I get a slightly bitter aftertaste from the coffee

M: Medium bodied. Nice carbonation

O: Excellent BA stout. I've had stouts that have stronger individual components, but this melds flavors really well. I love how subtle the coffee is, yet it is present throughout the entire flavor profile. Really well done. My favorite from central waters. Hope to try BCBCS someday, but until then, this does nicely.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter, pulled from fridge and sat at room temperature for about minutes before drinking. 2013 Vintage.

A- Pours black with a small amount of khaki colored head that quickly fades. A bit of lacing can be seen along the sides of the glass.

S- Very nice smelling beer. I get notes of coffee, chocolate and bourbon. The coffee and chocolate seem to dominate the aroma though. It is not as bourbon-forward smelling as I thought it would be.

T- The smell carries over into the taste, with the exception of the bourbon being much more forward in the taste. Chocolate and coffee are at the front of the taste before the oak and bourbon notes set in.

M- Medium bodied, not as thick as expected, smooth yet hot, and an awesome beer to sip on. The flavors get even better as it warms.

An under-rated beer, as many recent reviews have said. I think of it as a smaller version of Bourbon County Coffee Stout, but still very flavorful.

2013 Vintage

A - Dark dark brown. light mocha thin head, very opaque, slight carbonation rising

S - Coffee, carmel, chocolate, vanilla, toffee, slight bourbon

T - South American sweet coffee, sweet carmel, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, finish was low hops bitterness and nice smooth low booze taste

M - carbonation is excellent, a bit thin, froth level is low

O - Love that the bourbon does not dominate this beer. The south american coffee is front and center and tastes wonderful. The carbonation is right on but I felt the mouth was a bit thin and not as frothy as I'd hoped. CW fixes the mouth I think they have a world class stout- its that good.

2013 bottle

A: Dark brown/black with a small tan head. Some nice lacing.

S: Dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee roast and bourbon. Smells awesome.

T: Not quite as good as the nose, but still very impressive. Lots of roasted malt qualities with coffee, vanilla, a bit of dark chocolate and a bit of bourbon and oak.

M: On the higher side of medium, lighter side of full. A bit creamy. Carbonation is slightly below moderate.

O: This is very impressive. Great drinkability. Pretty damn close to KBS and about $7 cheaper. Not sure what other years taste like since this is the first time I've had it, but if other years were like this, this is very underrated.
