Overall it's a great tasting scotch ale. It's a little darker than other scotch ales I've had which may be a little misleading to how it drinks. Sláinte feels a little lighter compared to other scotch ales, but in my opinion it enhances it's drinkability.

Pours clear, dark brown in color, with 1/4 inch head. Taste is milk chocolate, peat, husk, and Tootsie Roll. Sweet and medium bodied. True to style and a good drinker although I prefer other Scotch ales. Not a beer to pass over but not one to rush out for either.

Appearance: Bright dark brown with a touch of ruby under a tan tinted foam cap that mounds up over the rim of the glass. Smell: Fruit, touch cocoa, slight alcohol.Taste: The flavor is malty and dry with traces of grains and cardamom and chocolate. Mouthfeel: Thick and malty, not quite a scotch ale but good. Overall: One dimensional, slight smoke, not complex.

(Served in a dimple mug)
bottled in Dec.
A- This beer has a deep dense walnut brown body that is opaque with a thin film of tan and a strong carbonation trailing up the side.

S- There is a clean slightly tart hint with some brown malt aroma and a touch of dark caramel but overall pretty soft aroma.

T- The pot caramel and dark toasted malt has a slight sweetness to it with a overcooked dark toffee note to follow. There is a bitter green finish with a hop and black roasted barley quality to the bitterness.

M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a gentle fizz and no alcohol heat noticed.

O- The nice malt flavor is not real rich but nice and it would be nice to have more of it in the nose. The bitterness is a bit too strong but not offensive by any means.

Bottle from 2011 summer trip. This style is hit and miss for me. This version is a winner. Dark brown with a small consistent off-white head, and some lace. A rich yeast malted aroma. Medium mouthfeel, however it is smooth. The chocolate, the smoke, the malt, all nicely integrated.

The Central Waters Scottish Ale is decent and worth a try. The beer poured a deep amber....almost opaque with thin head that left a little lacing. The scent carried earth, peat and some malt. The taste had a nice malt base with a slight roast and earth. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this is a decent scotch ale.

poured into a pint glass, bottled on date of December

appearance: pours a chocolate brown with a thin brown head

aroma: slight malty nose, but not a very strong smell

palate: nice smooth feel to it with a medium body. flavor runs up the sides of the mouth as well as hitting the tongue.

taste: definitely the strong part of this beer, which is good cause its the most important. its a nice balance between barely flavors, a hint of chocolate and enough hoppy feel to it to really give it a robust offering.

overall: a pretty good beer by central waters. ive never seen this one before, but its definitely worth a try. its got more flavor than most scottish ales ive had before, and its more smooth as well.

Dark brown, almost black. Tan head, leaves generous lacing. I never like the aroma of Scottish styled ales, but like all others, there is a strong malty...butterscotch-like scent. The flavor is malty, caramel and butterscotch-like as well. The carbonation is light and the body is heavy. I like these attributes in stronger beers. Enjoyable. I'm not a huge fan of Scottish ales (except Founders' Dirty Bastard) but this is not bad. I only wish it had a little more strength than 7.5% ABV.
