On tap at Stubbys

A - pours dark brown, no head to speak of

S - spiciness of rye, chocolate follows

T - fantastic, lots of the rye barrel, then coffee, roasted malt, just enough chocolate

M - smooth, thicker than the bourbon barrel aged

O - wow, a different take on a great beer, the rye barrel aging gives a unique twist to one of my favorites

A: The beer is essentially jet black in color—only traces of reddish brown are visible near the edge of the glass when it is held up to a bright light. It poured with a short light tan colored head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass after it settled down.
S: Moderate aromas of rye bourbon are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell has has moderate flavors of rye bourbon from the barrel aging.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No warming is perceptible.
O: I was expecting this beer to be more alcoholic and heavier on the palate given its alcohol content but was pleasantly surprised by its drinkability.

Pours a dark mahogany color with a nice tan head. Smell had roasted chocolate notes ,vanilla and char bourbon . Taste was great follows nose great chocolate and wood flavors. Mouth feel a tad on the this side but the barrel was very present. A very good BA Stout at a fantastic price. Gonna buy a few more.

2018 bottle. Tan head. Black color.

Chocolate, roast, whiskey, vanilla, and a marshmallow finish. Really enjoy the flavors here for no adjuncts. This batch is fire. Full bodied but not oil thick.

A: Moderate a clear medium to dark cola brown in color with a light to moderate with a moderate amount of light to moderate amount of active visible carbponatio rising from the bottom of the glass. Moderate amounts of foamy light tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering a little more than 75% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of dark + roasted malts with moderate to strong aromas of oak + rye whiskey.

T: Upfront there are a moderate flavor of dark + roasted malts with moderate amounts of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of rye bourbon from the barrel aging and oak + vanilla.

M: Medium to full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: A slow sipper but enjoyable with decent barrel aging characteristics. Enjoyable.

Thanks to my favorite Bears fan, mnbearsfan, for slinging a bottle of this my way. I owe you some big hugs for this. 22 ounce bottle split with my wife.

The pours looks like a Midwest stout, dark. The nose is lighter than expected, gentle rye whiskey, chocolate, mild sweetness.

Central Waters Rye Barrel Stout: rye whiskey on the Mark McGwire juice. The barrel is here is predominant in a way that’s rather foreign to this brewery, which appears to pride itself on its (awesomely) balanced barrel-aged program. This is a rye shot to the perineum, in a good way. Boozy: another departure. Little roast, little chocolate, little shoulder massage, little sideways smile. Thick, & tasty in a way that I could drink until I found nirvana, or at least a 1:00 PM wake up.

Wildly different from most of the CW barrel-aged program, this is simple, barrel-heavy, without the complexity or subtlety of most of their beers. And? Who gives a rip. Sometimes, simple is good. Or excellent. Which is what this is.
