Rohrbach Sticke Alt is a cloudy, deep amber beer with a soft, sand colored head that leaves real nice lacing on the glass. It smells a little sweet, fruity, resiny and medicinal with a touch of spice. It's medium bodied and smooth with a clean, dry finish. It's a touch sweet, but it doesn't have the fruitiness of the aroma. The malt seems pretty complex. It gets pretty bitter at the finish. The aftertaste is bitter and resiny and seems to have a note of rye. This is a pretty obscure style, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. The complexity and bitterness of this beer make it more of a sipper than a slammer.
