Poured from 375mL corked & caged bottle into a tulip.

Appearance: amber hue with a light haze and a relatively strong effervescence. Head is two fingers of frothy white foam with nice tenacity and lacing. I like it.

Smell: earthy cherry aroma; a little bit of tartness is present, but not much. Decent, but unspectacular.

Taste: cherry character is pretty light, but nice nonetheless. There's an earthiness to the flavor which works well enough, although it is missing a lot of that classic lambic character. Not bad, but not worth going out of your way for.

Mouthfeel: relatively light body with a great big carbonation and a big creaminess. I like it.

Overall: a decent fruity beer, but not a great lambic.

From a bottle into a snifter.

This is my first experience with lambic beer, so I did not know what to expect. This beer poured cherry red (surprise!) with a very thin head. The smell was slightly vinegary, but thus was not the case with the taste which was sweet and cherry. There was low carbonation present and this made me wonder if I had a bad/spoiled bottle. It was marked best before 2014, and it has been cellared correctly, so I am at a loss.

While this was not a bad drink, it is not something I would go chasing after anytime soon. I think I will give the style another chance, but perhaps with something of a better reputation.
