Another beer I brought back from my recent trip to Belgium.

It pours a deep reddish chestnut with a frothy tan head, malty and yeasty with fruity apple and pear. Somewhat boozy.

In the mouth, it's surprisingly smooth and the booziness is barely noticeable. Bready and fruity malt, caramel and spiced apple. The body is not at full as you would expect but finishes with a nice sweetness. Light, sweet spice in the aftertaste.

This beer drinks easy but that 8.5% ABV sneaks up on you for sure! Good stuff.

Sweet n' sour flavour, acidic, sourness, is nice, but out of place. Spicy (cinamon), caramelly, toffee, some citrus in the finish. Good amount of yeast floating around aswell. The finish is sour, acidic and bitter, spicy and citric. OK, but not quite all there for me, flavours didn't quite go together.

Boelens Kerstbier pours a dark brown color with a frothy, beige head. Sediment is present in the pour, and the head retains quite well. Smell is spicy with notes of figs and tobacco. Taste features hints of black currant, figs, cherries, sweet raisins and alcohol. Lots of yeast character. Smooth mouthfeel scores well, but spiciness and sweetness keep drinkability down a bit. A nice find at Le Bier Circus in Brussels.

No botledate carved. Some beige head and a brown beercolor with huge flocks. Nose is mega cinnamon and comes to me more as german gluhwein then beer. Some portyness next to that and maybe a hint of the listed roast but everything overpowered by the cinnamon. Taste is lots of cinnamon again and further dry with roastbitter aftertaste. Missing sweetness in mouthfeel that you expect with this much of cinnamon. Drinkable and enjoyable if your into lots of cinnamon.
