16oz can into a pint glass, poured a hazy golden with a narrow but present hoppy nose. Spicy hops hit the tongue first but are quickly followed by toffee and caramel in the malt. This resolves the hop spice from sharp to a more rounded resinous finish that lingers pleasantly.

A: [3.75] Beer is a golden color but with definite red tones in there. Makes it look nice in the glass. It also features about 1 1/2 fingers of pillowy white head. The bottle lists the ABV (6.4%) and the there is a best by date (06/01/16)

S: [3.75] Sweet candy scent. Lots of sweet malty smells. This beer is at the end of its drink by so it may be hop fade leading to the malt forward aroma.

T: [4.00] Really nice balance of flavor. There are subtle hops up front that have piney flavor. then leading to a a nice malty middle that is bready with crackers. The malts also have a fair bit of sweetness.

M: [3.50] Smooth medium body with lower carbonation. The finish is delicate for an IPA with only mild bitter aftertaste very late.

O: [3.75] This is either an English IPA or a faded American IPA. Either way I like the resulting flavor. The hops are still there but are really balanced with the malts that seem to take center stage. This is a very drinkable and enjoyable beer.

This beer is very good, in my opinion. SOme complain that it is too bitter, but I question whether or not they actually like beer, because thats what you get with double IPA's, and in my opinion it is not that bitter. tastes pretty much just like it smells, which is not bad. It tastes kinda like I would imagine a pine tree tastes, in a good way though and not overwhelming. It pours beautifully and the head laces the cup as you drink well. Dark and hazy orange with an off white head. Overall, this is a solid standard IPA that was well made, but doesn't have many unique characteristics to make it one of a kind. An enjoyable beverage, and I would not turn it down if it was offered to me.

The bitterness of this beer is high, its 62 IBU rating make it really bitter. I don't like the bitter beer, but I'm always willing to try them.

The look of this beer is a nice brownish yellow, I give 13 on the SRM scale. The foam was present at the beginning, but disappear fast. The color is really great.

The smell is not inviting, I don't like the smell at all. It smell a bit like, the beer is pass its best before date.

The taste is a bit better than the smell. The taste and the bitterness remind me the peel of the grapefruit. Not really attracting, to me at least..... Once in my glass for 5 minutes the room temperature make it more bitter. One good thing is that the taste don't stay long in your mouth like other IPA with a high IBU.

Its like other IPA I had in the past, hard for me to get more than one at a time.

The 341 ml bottle retailed for 2.95$ (CAD), for an ABV of 6.4%

I like to try all the beer I can purchase, but some are not in my taste chart.

I bought a couple 473ml cans at the LCBO. My initial impression of the can was that it is just beautiful, like many other Muskoka products. Upon pouring this tall boy in to my pint glass. I noticed the very strong but pleasant aroma.
Smell: I found the mixture of Chinook and Centennial hops made for a very enjoyable nose. I originally smelt some pine, some grassy notes as well as some caramel. There is a citrus smell that doesn't over power this nice earthy beer. The fruity smell is possibly an orange or grape fruit.
Like many Muskoka beer the head was very good with nice off white colour.
Taste: A great punch of hops, the citrus flavour is noticeable but nothing like the Muskoka Detour. That being said The Mad Tom IPA is a very clean and crisp tasting beer.
Overall this is a great micro brew IPA that is readily available in most LCBO. Hope to see more bars and restaurant carrying Muskoka products.

Aromas of tropical fruits and caramel. Flavors of pine, floral, and herbal spices. Caramel biscuit feel with a grassy notes. Nice balance with a good dose of sugar while having a strong sharpness but not overly spicy. Ultimately the hop just dominates and makes it hard to get through more than 1
