Clear brown, with an amber tint. Not much head, no lacing. Smells of rotten honey (sure, honey doesn't rot, but if it did....). As for the taste, I'm going to have to resort to French to express my disappointment. The word is Deguelasse. I think I spelled that right. It basically means disgusting, but I think Iit has a better ring to it. Honey sweetness and malt sweetness clash here, and both of them lose. Avoid. In fact, most of the beers from this brewery are pretty forgettable (I don't think they're this bad, though), making it a good thing to avoid.

Served from a 341ml Brown bottle into a pint glass. BB Sep.14 08

A- Gold/copper color with minimal head and a ring of lace around the glass.

S- Caramel malt, honey is quite noticeable, fairly candy-like nose. With some graininess to it.

T- Malty up front with a near perfect touch of honey adding fairly good balance and a nice not overly sweet, honey tang in the finish. Some grassiness and a whisper of hops in the finish. All in all decently balanced to my surprise. Fresh tasting is the name of the game here.

M- Fairly light in body with fine carbonation. The brew is a tad on the astringent side though.

D- Is above average for a honey lager.

Overall a decent pitch at a not so popular style. Not incredible by any mean, but price wise this brew is a steal. Better than alot of basic macros and i think i would prefer this to Molsons or labatts anyday. Worth a try, especiall at $7.75 a six pack.

Bottle fresh from brewery

Honey beers are not to everyone’s taste as they tend to offend with too much sweetness or not enough honey flavor…This one has trimmed back hops like the others but there is an excellent balance between fresh bready malt and tangy natural honey flavor which seems to compliment the hopping without being overly sweet….malty, decently balanced for the style this is my second favorite Honey lager….and fresh tasting too.

poured from 12 oz. brown bottle.

a very basic beer. kind of pedestrian, but not really bad, either.
smells of sweet honey. no hops presence in the nose. just a tinge of biscuity maltiness gives way to the sweet honey flavor too quickly. the beer just lacks much of a backbone to balance out the sweetness. it's not cloying, but it's a one-sided beer. not a very exciting offering, but won't offend you either. very comparable to the american "honey brown" lager from (i think) coors. not a good example of a vienna lager, but is still far better than a yellow, fizzy, mass-produced lager any day.

Pours amber with absolutely no head to speak of. Looks like a glass of iced tea.

You can smell honey and just the barest hint of malt. Quite watery in taste, insipid, uninspired. Slight hop bitterness, hint of malt on the tongue if you wait for it, but this beer doesn't offer anything to distinguish itself.
