Federal Jack's- Fuggle's IPA

A- Copper Brown with a thick heavy lacing head.
S- Caramel malt and light pine hops.
T- Sweet butery caramel malt with an even balance of sweet pine needle hops.
M- Low carbonation, dry earthy with a chewy malt finish.

Overall- Very tasty and too easy to drink. My 2nd federal Jack's beers and another good 1.

This was the first IPA on cask experience that Id had. Now although im not the biggest IPA fan.. i appreciate them.

A- darker that most of the IPAs that Ive had. Dark copper in color. The head on my beer wasnt that thick...maybe half inch.

S- Hoppy

T- As previously reviewed, i think buttery is a great way to describe this beer...buttery with strong hops

This is a decent beer...for something that was served on cask at my local pub I expected something with a little more punch.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass.

The color is a copper gold with a finger of foamy white head and some nice lacing

The smell is bitter with an english IPA feel from the fuggles hops. Not much can break through the bitter hop flavor in the nose so I move on.

Taste is hops, hops, and more hops. The bitterness from the fuggle hops makes itself known and is pretty much the whole show. There is a bit of citrus flavor that has a slight tangieness to that contributes to your mouth puckering.

This beer has a nice feel to it and is pretty drinkable it a full body. I feel some may be turned off by the single hop, single flavor feel but this is good for a single hop IPA.

On tap at Federal Jack's brewpub this IPA is a clear dark amber color with a decent white snowcap and good lacing to go with it. The aroma is very mild and non-descript by my nose. Just a faint citrus hop and cracker malt but it's tough to nail down. The flavor says grass hop once it has a chance to settle but it doesn't jump out as very hoppy. There's a bright rye bread and more toffee underpinnings noted as you go. Mostly it boils down to a bitter grass which is not my favorite version of an IPA but it might be interesting to those that like the grassy btterness idea in their IPA's. Carbonation is sturdy and body is near medium with a fizzy feel. I don't find this highly drinkable but it's more a matter of taste, nothing to do with the body or alcohol.

Off the tap this beer was a clear, amber color with thin, khaki-colored skim for a head. The retention was a good and the lacing scattered but consistent. The aroma was weak and ill-defined hops (Where's the Fuggles?). The flavors were much better. Starting with a flash of malty sweetness it then was followed by a rush of bitterness from the Fuggles. There was some doughy malt behind that but the beer came off as misbalanced. Acidic and lackluster. The mouthfeel was creamy, the body medium and the carbonation just a little prickly.
