Poured into a pint glass.

Nothing about this beer is really comparable to other wheat ales I've had - and that is not a good thing. The appearance is pale and lifeless. There is a faint grain aroma, but it is more like grass or hay. There is a slight lemony flavor, but the taste is off almost cheap. Mouthfeel is thin and not well carbonated. By no means is this a well made beer, but it is not hard to drink. Regardless, I cannot recommend this.

App - Exceptionally foamy with a moussy, long last white head. Pale gold color with good clarity.

Aroma - A bit cidery. Not pleasant.

Taste - A bit medicinal and bitter. Some slight malt grainess, but really not wheat beer flavor. No beer flavor in general.

MF - medium body and high carbonation. High carbonation makes it a bit astringent.

D'ability - Strange tasting beer, cidery and hugely carbonated. Otherwise bland - not worth a drink.

A - Poured out a slightly cloudy, orange/amber color with a small, short-lived, white head. No lacing at all.

S - It smelled of wheat, citrus and some fruity notes.

T - It tasted fairly malty for a wheat. There was an odd fruitiness with some wheat taste. It just didn't fit.

M - It was crisp and sharp with a smooth finish. A light bodied beer.

D - This was just a confused beer. It didn't taste like a wheat beer at all.

This was a gift from my mom saw it at Trader Joe's and felt obligated to buy it for me.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a slight orange tinge. Light head and lacing.

Smells of wheat, grass, citrus - mostly lemon with a little orange.

Taste is the same as the smell, but completely overwhelmed by the carbonation. Way too crisp, definitely a big detraction.

This is a passable beer that might have fared better on a warm summer day (as opposed to January in Chicago). I may give this one another shot when it's warm.

Appearance- It has a brass colored body with a couple fingers of head. The lace is better than average too and has a lot of retention. There is also a lot of fizz to the body aswell which I have found to be the norm for the Kennbunkport brand.

Smell- It has a weak smell altogether but I would have to say the strongest aroma would be a bean like tone and then some wheat malt.

Taste-The flavor is mainly beany and there is a sour taste as well bitterness to it.

Mouthfeel- medium bodied and over fizzed.

Drinkability- Not the greatest wheat I do not think I would buy it again.

I poured this beer into my tumbler at 50 degrees. The beer was cloudy and poured no head or lacing at all. The beer was nice and blod. The taste was a bit citrus like and very clean and refreshing. I was stunned there was no typical sourness to the beer. It was very nice for a wheat beer and is one of the best wheat beer I have ever had. I would buy again.

Pours a clear golden color with hardly any head at all, therefore no retention. Lacing is non-existent. Low carbonation and little head makes the smell very weak; a hint of sweet malt. Not a real good example of the style (weak head, not long lasting, low carbonation). A weaker body and smoother feel make it easy to drink, but not what I wanted from a Wheat. A grassy flavor along with a lager background. Not any hops that I noticed. Overall, not a great wheat at all. Maybe a good starter beer for a beginner only used to american adjuncts, but otherwise bland.

12 oz brown bottle with twist off top. Best enjoyed by June 08 notched on label.

Another beer in Trader Joe's newish line of "economy" beers. Not much in the way of expectations

A: Well, it sort of just looks like a budweiser/etc, clear straw golden color with thin white head. Small number of rising bubbles. Surprising lacing. This actually looks better than some of the others in this line that I've tried, but looks nothing like anything wheat related so I'll just score this as being average.
S: Nothing very pleasant about this. It smells marginally stale, yeasty, a little cat piss, some grain. I'd rather not smell this anymore
T: This has more flavor than say, Natty Light, and that's about the best thing I can say. Nothing bad here, just a budget, watered down wheatish beer. Slightly sweet, a little yeast, before an aftertaste that has an odd slightly bitter/stale taste and that's most memorable thing going on. Otherwise this tastes like a flavorful version of a Natty Light or something equally pale.
M: Slightly thin body, smoother than expected, adequate carbonation, could be worse.
D: Well, of the KBC beers from TJ's I've tried so far this is least offensive but this isn't really a wheat beer in any sense. There's nothing particularly offensive about this beer and I'd probably rather drink this than Keystone or Natty but I really shouldn't be making that comparison should I?

Poured from 12oz brown bottle into a clear short pilsner glass. Frehsness date on front label.

A: Uninspired pale yellow with 2-finger foamy white head with average retention and decent lacing.

S: Mild lemongrass and some vegetable aroma

T: Minimal lemon tang and otherwise watery. Finish is a little metallic and vegetably

M: Thin, watery, and overcarbonated with a metallic, vegetable aftertaste

D: Not hard to drink except for your can't stop the aftertaste until your next beer starts -- so I guess it helps your overall drinking by shrinking the interval between beers but that's about it. Not recommended.

Not sure why this has such poor reviews; it's no one's idea of a perfect wheat beer, but it's decent enough, esp. for the price ($3.99 for a 6-pack at Trader Joe's, at least for the time being) in my area. It has some wheat character, enough to set it apart from most American macros, and it's a nice change of pace at a moderate ABV. Kind of thing that looks different enough to bring to a party and not be embarassed. Good taste, easy to drink, nice label.

A- Dark gold with a half finger head.

S- Exremely fruity with some medicinal notes.

T- This beer is all over the place. Bubble gum, odd fruit flavors, plus other flavors I'd rather not track down.

M- Light body and low carbonation.

D- Maybe if it was really hot out, otherwise, no.

I wanted to say something good about this but I just couldn't find it.

Kennebun....what? The name looks like a tongue twister, but a slow glance at the name makes it more readable. Best before date is notched on the side of the label, at January 2012. On to the beer:

A kristalweizen? A bright lager? Still, the translucnet golden straw color, filled with springy bubbles rising to the top, and foam two finer's thick and solid lace, has its appeal. The nose surprises; it's got some sort of mango aroma with some cream of wheat that's making me crave my first sip.

Bummer. Keenebunkport could have pumped more flavor into this beer. From the aroma, it maintains much of that cream of wheat flavor, but much of the mango is almost non-existent. Vague fruitiness too. Hops are there, but seem processed and sharp. Mouthfeeel dissapoints with its slick feel; this is not what I really want lingering around. To the end...

Passable, but lacking in character. That's all folks.

12oz bottle from Trader Joe's, cheap.

Looks like a Macro, slight white head and clear/yellowish body. Slight lacing.

I don't know how to describe this smell. However "Pleasant" does not come to mind.

It tastes bad. Not just bad; really bad. I'm not sure if this is beer, only a slight grain aftertaste. Tastes like an industrial cleaner and some dirty water had offspring with a little bit of stale wheat added in.
I'd rather be drinking natural ice or keystone or something, that's how bad this stuff is.

Has a mouthfeel of the thinnest variety, but it's hard to notice because I am trying to down the stuff so fast and keep it off of my tongue.

I've never tasted piss, but at least piss can be had for free.

Single 12 oz. bottle obtained from Trader Joe's. Pours a brilliantly clear golden straw with half an inch of white foam. Offers decent retention given a steady carbonation boil. Yet oddly clear and filtered.

Nose of neutral grain and a bit of lemon. Hint of wheat after some agitation.

Surprisingly bready texture given the nose. Bit of pepper spice and thin lemon bread. Touch of chewy sweet lemon oil on the finish. Tends towards additives yet holds the line as for legitimacy.

Feel is lightly sweet and offers a touch of lemon once again. Smooth and crisp per se, yet a bit too clean. Bit cider like in the end given the filtered lemon nature of the beer. Not too bad, but not much in the wheat department either.

From Trader Joe’s. Current batch is called "KBC Wheat Beer - Kennebunkport Brewing Co." And on the side is "brewed and bottled by Pugsley Brewing, Portland, Maine."

Handsome golden color and nice head in the snifter. All downhill from there. Kind of a basement smell with wet newspaper. Tannic taste like cheap weak tea. Well, it does have a hint of wheat maltiness if you use your imagination. More on the grapefruit peel kind of bitterness but it must have a touch of hops. Sparkling mouthfeel like cheap champagne. If only it had a little malty sweetness or body. Not actually bad, just not very beery.

Bottle from Trader Joe's for $5.99, with no alcohol concentration. Best if before March 10. Thin light colored beer with poor head retention.

Smell is very fruity and strange, not what I would expect from a wheat beer. This is only slightly reflected in the taste. It seems like there's a lot going on in this beer, but it's all very subdued. Has a bit of malt in it, which I like, but the fruity flavors and floral hops are not going together well at all.

Overall thin and refreshing. Seems over-carbonated. Not a bad beer for the price, but I probably woulnd't buy it again.

Served in a Walter Payton shaker pint glass.

Another random TJ's beer bein' rocked with Sweetness. Right on. It pours a clear brass topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises wheat, dusty biscuits, and flowers. The taste hols notes of old orange rind, light vinyl, light lemon peel, bad dark greens, and a touch of mild honey. It does not come together well at all, instead providing a rather unpleasant jolt to the 'buds. The body is a hefty-leaning light, with a moderate carbonation and a rather dry finish. Overall, a pretty sad beer, one I don't think I'll ever have again.

Bought this at Trader Joes the other day. I see that there haven't been any reviews of this since '09 so I'm guessing that this is one that Kennebunkport just decided to bring out of retirement.

A: Very pale golden color with a lasting 1/2 inch head. Very clear color, which isn't really what I've come to expect from a wheat beer. Tons of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass.

S: When I first poured it, it smelled exactly like Pyramid Apricot. Lots of artificial-smelling apricot aromas. As it warms, it takes on a sort of cleaning supply-like smell, almost like you would find when walking down the bleach aisle of a Target.

T: There's really just not much taste here. There's a little bit of a lemon-like sourness that doesn't taste intentional. Other than that, I'm not getting any hint of wheat. I get a grainy flavor and then a really yeasty-bready flavor that's just straight gross. Avoid this.

A - a light/pale straw color that is surprisingly clear. Very thin head that doesn't stay for too long. maybe 1/2cm and it goes down pretty quickly with no lacing.

S - This smells like a wheat beer with the yeast profile forward for sure. Not something I like too much, so I don't drink too many wheat beers, but I was in the mood and it was inexpensive as a single. A hint of spicyness to it as well.

T - This tastes as I expected it to. A solid, though nondescript, wheat beer. Not bad and worth drinking.

M - This is a light beer that has been well carbonated, maybe even a little overcarbonated. The wheat gives it more body though, so its not too light.

D - I would get this again if I just wanted a wheat beer and didn't care. For the discerning wheat beer drinkers out there, go with something a little nicer.
